Sorry Newbie... I was just wondering if i need anything else if i wanted to install cam gears and camshafts besides intake/exhaust camshafts and cam gears? Thanks in advance...
Im not an expert but you should try first to get an intake, (HKS RS is pretty good) then an exhaust (your choise), then fuel pump (walbro255 is great and bolt on for the evo) then think about cams (and a Flash of your choise I went with Dynoflash) but you should think about doing cams and flash at the same time to keep your car runing smoth.
O and forget about cam gears you dont need them if you get a flash

uhm, no. the stock intake is about the best intake available until you step up to a bigger turbo that requires a bigger intake pipe, or map sensor. i gained 0ver 70 lbs of torque going from the hks (pos) to the stocker. as far as the cams go, they could hurt your performance if you don't choose them wisely. take my old evo for instance. i had a utec, walbro, exhaust and went w/ the jun 272's, gears, springs and retainers. big mistake. the stock turbo was worthless because of the extreme lift/duration of the jun setup. it just couldn't provide the volume of air that the jun's were begging for. i then had to step up to the ams gt35rl setup. not a bad thing, just pricey. point is, there is a tried and true upgrade path available for the evo now. check out ams, turbotrix etc.... and stick to it, period!

I would suggest calling Andrew from dyno4mance, he will answer this question and give a good clue as to whats going on.. He hasnt a problem talking on the phone and shareing his dyno research.
If it means anything, on my car I have a vishnu stage 1 and just now bought camshafts HKS 272/272. The stage one consist of, xede (piggy back unit) exhaust (turbo back) and some cam gears (I used fidanza), thats it. I dont want to try and explain why the 272/272 combo rocks because chances are I will butcher something Andrew told me and get everything all hosed. So please call him and he will set you straight I have learned alot from him and Shiv from Vishnu.
Dyno4mance = 706 602 8881
*on a side note the 272 combo did give Andrew the best results keep in mind it's really made for a bigger turbo. What that means is, its nice on stocker but it will shine with a big turbo.. If you dont plan to go witha larger turbo I might suggest the 272/264 combo, which we put on my old 03 and it ended up being one of the most responsive combo's/ cars to hit the dyno at Dyno4mance. It was able to weld 296 whp on pump gas alone, thats insane for a dynodynamic dyno. On a dyno jet it would = out to about 349 350ish!!!
*edit, I also wanted to note that the stocker air box is freakin awsome, even with a larger turbo.. It was designed to give the best air flow to the car it could. The exhaust is the weak link.
