bro the problem is they can try some bs and say almost anything is the cause, and make u get a lawyer to get it taken care of. i got intake from my dealership so they cant void it. but anything else ur taking it into ur own hands.

Its all dealership, and also the region where you live. Both the dealership I bought from, and the dealership I go to for service have been very nice to me.

On another note, I dont see why people expect Mitsubishi to pay for warranty claims when while exceeding the stock power rating by so much.

And the reason why mitsu is sooo unforgiving on mods, is that
1. A few mods create a LOT of power
2. People take them off when going in for service claiming the car is stock.

The people who fall in category 2 are the people who created this mess in the first place!!!! The purpose of a warranty is protect the buyer from defective parts used in a proper manner...not parts abused with a lot more hp. As "strong" as you guys may feel the engine is, the car was only designed to handle 27x hp. If you significantly exceed that, youve taken the car beyond the design intent. If you mod your car, you should expect to pay for any broken parts.

And this goes for any car. Do you think you can take in an M3 with 75 more hp bolted on to it and expect the dealer to pay for the blown motor? Are you kidding me?!?! He would laugh your a$$ right out of the garage! Same with almost any car...especially performance cars. If you cant afford the reprocussions of breaking stuff with modifications you shouldnt mod...period. End of discussion.

And the reason dealers dont allow many mods at all, is that they arent stupid. They know a couple parts can add a lot of hp to this machine....parts that can be easily concealed or taken off.

As the old saying goes: you play, you pay.

Edit: when i say mods here, im talking about mods that significantly affect power production, or someother aspect of the car. Im not saying if you add tints or wheels or something you void the warranty.
I agree with ya. My dealership has been great. I just went in for my 15K service and they ordered me 3 calipers (were pealing and I didn't even know it) and a new door panel where the soft fuz was wearing off.

These gus are great and I give to Swope !

Now keep in mind also I've been going there for almost 3 years for all my services on both my EVO and my my Eclipse (before I traded it in on the EVO ). I also don't give them any attitude as soon as I walk in the door and spend a lot of time there just shooting the breeze about the car while I'm waiting for my services to be completed.

If ya wanna trash your car then don't expect someone else to pay for it! If you were in business to make money (as is) you wouldn't replace stuff just because someone abused it!!! Got buy a stereo from Walmart, rewire it adn blow it up then take it back and expect a replacement..bet it wouldn't happen!!!

Now before ya all start screamin at me, if your dealership has crappy service, call the customer service line at and tell em. I'll bet if enough of ya do that ya may see a change, or just find a better dealer. Ya may have to go out of your way, but the rewards of dealing with a GOOD mitsu dealer outweigh the frustrations of dealing with a bad one!!!

just my .02

Lightbulb

I know I voided my warranty! Right now my motor and trans are out, new everything, and I only had 600 miles or so on the odo. I would luv to see the face of the service right up guy if I brought my car in for warranty service. Hey lightbulb, maybe I should have a hidden camera and try this when my car is put back together...hehehe

I went to the same dealership for 3 years also. With my highly modded eclipse GST and now with my evo. I have been waiting ummmmm 3-4 months for them to get my damn recall fan motor **** in.... The problem is they just don't want to deal with this car. I was even told by them the car should have never been made "it's a street legal race car that should have never been put into production"

It's close to it. They basically plan on selling the car to you and never seeing you again. They are very nice when u buy the car and offer you drinks and stuff. Once you pay for it they treat you like ****, they never really want to see you again. I can't complain I bought the car a few months after it came out in 03 for 27.6 which was GREAT then. Let me ask you this. If you don't believe this is true? Have you ever pulled into the Mitsubishi Service dept. and have 4 of the 5 service reps run from your car? I have. Then when you finally snag one of them they deny you the service of changing 4 tires that you brought them and were going to pay for the service? Not talking warranty work here.

they need a customer service class or something. I think this is alot of the reason that the company is in such trouble...I actually read an article awhile back about mitsu search dogs that look at sights like this for the goal of voiding peoples warranties etc... They should spend the money they are paying for that guy on customer service training and bennifit would be had by all.

Yah.... I got my sticker.... and the "install" instructions. What a joke.... They came through with the sticker. But not with the fan motor. My car can over heat and blow the engine but hey! I got my sticker that warns you about "This vehicle has an air bag system..." Guess you can't ask them for too much now.

I also got my other sticker with the "correct" vehicle weight on it a while back. I gues you could say they are good at giving you stickers? Maybe....

I had that happen. Hard to get them to even push the button to open the door for the service drive thru. You would think that they would be right on it since they will be taking your money for the service and not claiming it on warranty.

No they finally asked a service manager and he said they would do it. But I had to sign a waver stating they were not responsable for scratching my rims because the last evo they did they scratched all 4 and had to replace them for the guy. Then he had the ***** to tell me he was trying to save me $400 on the tire change. I told them to go **** himself and blew right on through the service center. We created a "scene" then ended it with No wonder you guys are going bankrupt. With all the Future customers to see.

I figured it was too good to be true... I asked the girl when I called "are you sure you don't want to know what car this is for?" She replied nope. Just bring it by at 9am.... Boy was she clueless.
