Shifting not smooth.

I changed my tranny/tc oil to redline about 3k miles ago and shifting doesnt seem to be smooth. some of the gears wont go in sometimes. like i have to push it, it stops so i have to bring it back and push it back in then it goes in. and it doesnt seem like the gears are lubricated. I used Redline MTL90 and rechecked to see if i underfilled but its not. I ordered poly in-car bushings to see if it helps. but i dont know..

new clutch? With every clutch install, the shift linkage that attaches to the transmission has to be adjusted.

What you have to do is, put your shifter in 1st gear, then adjust the shift linkage while the shifter is in 1st gear. Then try shifting, it should be same as stock.

This happened to me and few other people. I still haven't fixed mine yet, but it works and I like how it works now. It's bit stiffer.

Also, when your transmission warms up fully, you'll be able to shift a lot smoother. That's about 20 to 30 minutes of driving.

The trany is notchy and I think it's always going to be like that. If it's not going into gear or grinding alot then you should take it in for service and have them look at it since your under warranty. Do give your car enough time to warm up? My car seems to shift alot better when it's had alot of time to warm up.

can u get more in depth on how to adjust the shifter linkage. Yea i never did anything like that after installing my ACT clutch. Also, im afraid to take it in for warranty cuz i have aftermarket clutch and a ton of mods. My TC is howling, do u think i should take it in?

my tc is howling after act clutch install. For some reason, it just amplifies it.

it only happens in gear and under 3000 rpm, right? I think that's normal from what I heard, but i don't know.

There is a thread about it, but it's been a while.

What i remember is you have to unscrew the linkage mount then put your gear in 1st, then re mount the shift linkage mount back to the transmission.

then tweak as you go.

I would take it to the people you've got your clutch installed before you take it in for the dealer, since your dealer will report your aftermarket clutch and it'll go in to your record and will void warranty.

They have to just adjust it.

Mine was taken out and reinstalled (the shift linkage mount) and it worked better.

Also, you have to break in your clutch and adjust your master cylinder rod toward the driver a bit, so as you have about 1/2 to 1 1/2 pedal play.

It should engage about half way on the clutch if you do this and shift should be a lot smoother.

What happens when you install act clutch is your master cylinder isn't getting any hydralic fluid into the cylinder for self adjusting and it's preloaded.

You just have to adjust it so the hydralic fluid is in and your slave cylinder isn't preloaded.

I know what it is but can't really explain it that well, since I can't show you the graphics that i've saw and read all the act clutch threads.

But try the master cylinder adjusting first. i've posted a thread about adjusting the mc before here and there are 2 more threads about it.
