Smell after 21k miles?

This mostly applies to the few that are still stock... But u know that smell the car makes when it's new? Well, that, or some other burning-type smell has returned. My car did it for the first 5k miles easy, then it went away. Now, whenever I stop the car, it's back. I'm not sure if it happens when I'm driving cuz I can't smell it then, only when I stop and get out and catch a whiff of it. My car is all stock and I take good care of it. It's garaged every night, so I don't think a small animal is up there, and plus that would make a much worse smell. Just kinda smells like it did when it was new. Does anyone else who's stock have this after so many miles?

i am still stock, and have about 10k on mine. it still does it as well. i get more of a burning rubber smell. its odd, but i have had no clutch problems or anything so i am not sure what it could be. it seems to be worse after long drives.

YES!! Pretty much the same thing. Like when I get to work (15 mile drive) I get a good whiff of it, same coming home when I pull into the garage. But yeah it's like burning rubber or plastic or something like that. It's not the definite clutch smell, and I'm have 0 problems with clutch or tranny or anything like that. The car is behaving just fine and just like it did when it was new. I don't get it...

i pretty much chalked it up in the "who knows" category. i have to explain it to freinds sometimes. they usually say "your car is broken" and i usually reply "start walking home"

LOL. Well, guess I'll do the same. Maybe I'll have Mitsu take a gander when I take it in for the 30k.

Sounds like you picked up a plastic bag on the exhuast system while driving.
