Noticable engine differences
Is it me, or has anyone else noticed the silver alluminum plumbling that goes from the intake manifold to the exhaust manifold, MISSING?! Doesn't that help spool the turbo faster?? Why doesn't the U.S. version have it??!!

Go look at any EVO motor from Japan/European models and you'll see that there is alluminum plumbing that goes from the intake manifold to the exhaust manifold. It runs right along the edge of the cam cover and where the exhaust manifold bolts up to the head. From what I've been told, it helps keeps the turbo spooled between shifts. Now look at any pic of the U.S. version, and you'll see that it doesn't have this plumbing, but the exhaust manifold has the holes closed up from where it would be installed. I don't have the ability to put up a picture to compare because of my wireless laptop that I work from. But anyone who has a turbo eclipse can tell that the exhaust manifold on the U.S. EVO has 2 round spots that don't exist on our DSM exhaust manifolds.. In these round spots (as I call it) is where the EVO plumbing would be..

Damn... No it's not the heat shield, actually it's on top of it.. Right up against the head.. You can't miss it.. Go anywhere and look at the exhaust manifold on any EVO IV, V, VI, VII (with heat shield) and you'll see a little snake-like aluminum hose that runs on top of it... That's what is missing from our version...

heat shields?
