Dunno which is bigger, but the WRX intercooler is in the WRONG PLACE!!! What is it doing at the back of the engine bay, begging for cold air from that silly hood scoop? The EVO has a front-mounted intercooler that breathes from a huge opening in the front bumper. As it should be.

i think the STi IC would be a better comparison. the wrx IC isnt tiny, but its small compared to the sti/evo.

V7 STi Spec-C IC is 40% bigger than the USDM wrx IC. V7 is 14% larger than the USDM STi IC. so the USDM STi IC is 26% bigger than the USDM wrx IC (40-14=26).

Uhhhh....

You can't add percentages of two different numbers.

To the original poster: Sorry, I don't know- or care. Is you friend also bragging he's got bigger cup holders or a longer antenna? What's his point?

imagine driving thru mud and snow and all that crap getting stuck in the FMIC on a rally course... what good does it do? seems like its a better spot up top to avoid any "clogging"

well i guess you're getting free dinner cuz even the STI stock ic is 1/2 the size of an evo ic (measurement wise). flow wise is different of course but either way, pick a good expensive restaurant!!!!!!

Yeah but how many of us drive in mud and snow enough to get the front mount clogged up? I mean seriously. We got over a foot of snow here last week. You would have to be crazy to drive in snow that is deep enough to almost almost touch the head lights. And even if it did get clogged with snow, even better, it will definitely cool the air better. And think about it, if there is snow, cool air should not be a problem, considering it is cold enough outside to have snow.

Actually, even the Subaru WRC car uses a front mount intercooler. It is much more efficient at cooling the incoming air than a top mount.

True, the top mount is stock WRX/STis because of intercooler plumbing .... the engine is a flat 4 and having a front mount would have longer pipes than having a top mount, leading to turbo lag, chance for more heat soak, etc .... basically inefficient.
