You will be fine with just an exhaust un-tuned. If you turn up the boost add an intake and fuel pump then you're going to need a tune. They run pretty rich stock so you're good.

Whatup,

Yeah it's addictive. I got my car just before my daughter was born, so I was only going to do mimimal mods. So first AB muffler, then I decided to add DP, and HF Cat, then MBC, then SAFC, then I decided to go for a catback. Next up, cams, lol.

Anyway, an exhaust shouldn't make it run richer, I would think it may run slightly leaner, but still quite rich (aka safe). Generally, EVOs sometimes need a tune for a cone intake, since it can alter MAF readings and potentially make you run a little lean in the lower rpm, but exhaust side mods shouldn't make you "too" lean.

Take care,

They told me to tune it when i have more mods so that itd be really worth it, since im planning to get 272s, I/C, HKS cam gears, and hks rs intake. But anyway, i dont think it would be a problem, also 20/19 psi to redline is safe in evos right? dotn we have enough fuel? oh and im running on 93oct
I guess if you want to shoot flames out of your exhaust then that's cool. Though I highly doubt you will get 300whp with just a TBE, air filter and 20psi boost with NO tuning.

You started the thread with a question. Were you looking for a serious answer or a confirmation to what you heard from someone else?

Buying a TBE and not tuning your car is like buying a set of Volks and then putting Fuzion tires on them.

first of all I said close to 300 to the wheels. Also you dont have to get it tuned now and you'd still get power out of the full exhaust. I was looking for people that actually know what they are talking about. Who would i rather believe? the owner of a company that has been around for years or some kid with an attitude that thinks he knows everything? ......I think the company yet nice try

your mods list says you have an s-afc II...... why not just slap the car on a dyno and do some tuning with that to lean the car out a little??

LOL, read the boards, do some reasearch, come on man. I never said you wouldn't get ANY power untuned. But if you aren't going to tune it, what the hell is the point??? I guess if 250 is close to 300 then, yeah, you can get "close to 300" to the wheels with those mods.

Or shall I just agree with everyone else then, since that's what you want to hear. Yarr, mmm hmm.

One guy you know isn't THE source of information on our cars. But what the hell would I know, I'm just some "kid with an attitude".

Anyway...

On a serious note, why do you have a SAFC in your sig? Why not use that to tune your car?

i did. I leaned it so i could have more top end but since now i have more mods and the S AFCII was teh first one then i wanna reflash the ECU. Its been proven to get more torque out of the flash than the AFC. Thats why

Evo348, I think it is highly unlikely you are going to make 300awhp with what you got (and yes I know you said close to), I laid down 274awhp with the same mods before a tune. Now the SAFC will help but, who tuned it? What are your AFR's? That is a loaded statement. The flash is going to give you way more power (torque especially), pull the fuel cut, high boost cut, alter ignition timing (depending on fuel) raise the rev limiter, etc... After a 'basic' flash I laid down 308awhp and now after a full custom tune I anticipate ~330awhp.

If you are looking for someone to convince you to just drop a couple of bucks and get it tuned, don't know what to tell you, but here is what I got.

BTW- those numbers were on a DD dyno.

thanks for the reply man, very helpful. I should have now about 280awhp liek ams said and a little over 300whp after the reflash. I will save some money and get ittuned on the dyno but after i get my cams to really have it going on. Take care
