The SR20DE, espicially the low port intake motors on the 91-93 sentra se-r,are arguably the finest 4 cylinder engine ever made.
I've personally owned 3 of these cars, including a 91 with a turbo and have never so much as fouled a plug in one with many miles of hard abuse.
I would recommend a se-r to anyone looking for a low budget performance car.

Triple thumbs up for the SR20DE and the classic SE-R

Ralliarts are getting some attention now so u might want to consider that. Also consider the fact that 2004 Ralliarts are still in stock at some dealerships. U can get that car for a steal. They got like a $4000 rebate to mitsu loyal customers.
If you're having trouble making payments, I wouldn't go selling the Evo and turning around and buying another brand new car like these guys are suggesting. Don't buy a new SRT-4 or a SE-R Spec V or anything like that. Go buy a used beater car like a 96 Camry or Accord or even a freakin Taurus, eat some humble pie for a year, and start SAVING money rather spending it. Best to check out insurance quotes for those different vehicles and see what's the lowest. You may be surprised on the Camry though, I thought I read somewhere that the Camry is the most stolen vehicle in the US (probably because there are so damn many of them).
Then maybe after a year of saving, you'll be able to put enough down on a NEW Evo that the payments won't be so bad and you won't have to revisit this situation again.
That's just my two cents of financial advice. Sucks you have to lose the Evo though. Just start saving money with dreams of a new MR or a Evo IX.

used 01-03 rsx-s.
used srt-4.
99 civic si w. greddy t/c, 278 whp, very clean, no rice, under 50k miles.
Any other suggestions greatly appreciated, what do you guys think. I cant afford sports car insurance, so no supra, rx-7 or 300z will do. Lookin to pay around 18g or less.
Thanx

Do you know how much you'll lose on your car?
I got a 2003 WRX in March of 2003 as a college graduation present for myself. I had to finance it, 5 year purchase. I screwed up my clutch, started feeling uneasy about the reliabilty, then I sold it. I took a huge loss on selling it. I couldn't get anyone anywhere NEAR what my payoff amount was. I had to get a freaking loan to even trade the car in! I traded it in on a new 2004 Accord V6. That was a dumb move too.
Anyway.... all I'm trying to say is that you will lose some money. Be prepared. I don't know what your payoff is, but you can buy 2003 Evo's with about 20,000 miles all day long on ebay for $23,000. So, take your payoff - $23,000. That number will be what you'll have to come up with to get rid of your Evo.
I'm looking to get an Evo, STi, 2001 Audi S4, or a 2004 GTO. Maybe you could find somebody like me that is willing to trade you. My payment is $515 because I financed some of my loss on the WRX trade-in through Honda with the new car purchase.
Good luck man... Don't trade-in, or you'll take it up the poop-chute.

I'm well aware that the Ralliarts came after the 01-03 Lancer since I own an 02 Lancer.
After giving it some thought I think I Like ANDROOS idea, but make sure you buy a beater that is well checked out.
No sense in wasting your money repairing it when you are saving to get what you really want.
