Strut tower braces, brake ducting, yadda yadda.
Or would you go aftermarket.

My only problem has been the dealers. They won't let you test drive ANY EVO.
I'm 34 and have a Cobra Conv. If they are qualifying me, I should meet the criterion. They are actually pretty dicky. I don't get it. Is it that they don't want to sell a car? I didn't even get to the price yet, so it wasn't like I walked in the door and said "I will give you 5000 cash right now! C'mon I said cash!!!" (I sold motorcycles for a long time and this story is not far fetched. People think that everything has a 500% markup and if they offer you cash, you'll say "Cash, Wow!! Screw my margin cuz we gonna have us a cash shower, in singles, tonight")
Anyone know a cool dealer in Chi? (Tom Noe's sucked and Woodfield wasn't much better)

You do not need to test drive the car. It is all that and a bag of chips. Just decide how much you are willing to spend and that will dictate which flavor of EVO to get. If you are into having all the bells and whistles, owning a "limited edition" car, get the MR. If value is important to you and getting the most for your money, get the VIII. If you want the cheapest possible way to own a brand new EVO, get the RS.

Greanted I'm 19 years old, I guess they assumed I would mess up the car, but thats not true cause I'm a great driver ; ). Anyways, I bought my EVO from Libertyville Mitsubishi and they're great! The salesman was cool as hell and told me about how he smoked an STi and an '03 cobra in his EVO. I hope that helps and good luck with your search!
Don't ask me why though, this thread will get locked.

I have to drive the car first. 35000 is a big leap of faith.
if you go to buy a new sport bike, 90% of the dealers are not going to let you test ride a bike. And if its me buying the bike, i would not care and never have. Why? Because ive done my homework and i know what bike i want. When i bought my evo, i didnt need to drive the car, i knew that i wanted it. And why would you want to test drive it?? To rev the thing to the moon so you can see how it performs. Im glad my dealer would not let people test drive the car i purchased.
but with all that said, you know the techs were seeing how fast they could get it in the back parking lot..... so all that typing was probably in vein

Anyway, the difference is that car insurance is much cheaper than bike insurance for a dealer. Considering that there have been quotes of over 6000 dollars per 6 months I have seen on a GSXR600, it's a no brainer for a dealer not to carry test ride insurance.
The bike costs a dealer 6800 dollars and the insurance costs almost the same, why would you screw your profit margin like that. Most bikes have fairly small markups when compared to cars.
Also, again, 35000 > 6800.
Also the GSXR won't lose 5000 of it's value if I drive it off of the lot.
depends.
if you want to not worry about getting warranty (or not worrying as much), then go stock, and don't do ANYTHING aftermarket or give em ANY reason to void your warranty.
otherwise, performance-wise, go aftermarket.
keep in mind it depends also on the attitude of your dealer. i have a great dealer so they take care of me with warranty issues if i have any at all, including clutch and syncro replacement on my old '03 (traded in for my MR).

kneedragger,
When I got my Evo, the dealer had a used Evo that they let me take out for a test. Once I decided that I liked it, we haggled over a new RS....and once we had an agreement on the price, then I took the new RS out for a drive.
That seemed fair to me. I agree with you that no way do I buy something for $30+K without driving it.
