Insurance providers
Ok, seems this point has been kinda glossed over, so I'm bringing it back up again.
I was told by someone very familiar with insuring highly sought after cars and exotics that some standard insurance companies will not even insure these cars. Most did not insure the 3000GT VR-4's when they first came out and some of the more exotic cars.
VIN's should be out in about a week or two max and then insurance companies will not be able to claim ignorance when it comes to what the car is and will need to start quoting it.
Has anyone talked to any insurance agent or anyone yet that has quoted a rate?

that's true, my wife works for geico and they don't insure some awd cars. the evo viii is going to be expensive to insure because of the awd system. i've tried checking on if anyone has a rate for them and most don't but to get an idea they can give you an estimate based on the cost of the car.
I spoke with my insurance agent last week (State Farm) and they do not have the Evo in there system yet. They said that until they do they quote the insurance price based on MSRP. I was quoted about $800/year. I am over 25 with a clean driving record
as one of the "old people" on here (i am 33), I have an S2000 that is fully insured for about $650 a year with me as the primary driver. It used to be $450 when they first came out, but as idiots wreck and steal them, it went up every year (despite me not getting any tickets or claims).
I would imagine the evo through "ERIE" insurance where I live (low crime, etc...) it will cost me about $600 the first year.
I am married and we have more cars than drivers.

If I can insure my Type R with State Farm, I'm totally sure I'll be able to insure my Evo with them also.
Co's like progressive and Geico won't usually insure ITR's or other high risk cars.....and it's because they refuse to cover these types of cars that they can offer lower premiums to the humdrum transportation autos.

haha...actually cheaper to buy two more evos and just pay liability and forget c/c. you crash one, use one of the other two you bought.
if you could buy them outright, anyway.
or pull a lebron james. (:

I did a Geico quote just for the sake of knowing what I might have to pay. I know it could be completely different through other insurance companies. Geico doesn't have the car listed anywhere but they quoted me $1538 for 6 months with whatever the defaults were for full coverage. I'm 27 years old. The only thing I can figure is that it's possibly jacked up so high due to the fact that I haven't had uninterrupted insurance for more than the last year. I don't have much of an insurance history previous to the last 12 months.

I just got quoted by progressive at 1046 for 6 mo's . thats 200 cheaper than a 03 wrx for 6 mo's. I had them double and triple check that they werent quoting me for an OZ. they pulled the quote from the VIN. I'm 23, w/ 2 tix.
