Did anybody read the 0-60 times. then tell me which one is the fastest... RS. when u think back to all the times u have accelerated in this car, chances are that 99.9 percent of the percentage was on the street for a block or so. or at the QTR track. Either of which the RSis faster in a straight line. However when it comes down to TRACK Racing. the rs does however have weak points. which all can be taken care of by the $ left over. I paid 26 for mine, the mr cost 35. that is 9 grand. So my car is faster in a straight line and i have NINE FREAKING GRAND to put into it. all the way to the bank!

The RS aint 30k, it's more like 25-6k. It also has AC. Mitsu radio sucks anyway.

It's just preference. Buy the car that has the stuff on it that you want. I don't need a sunroof, leather, tail, or electric anything. If you want lux, go get an s4 or m3.

If all 3 actually did cost the same then I think the MR would be the obvious choice.

However, they don't cost the same. The RS is nearly $10K cheaper and has the front LSD, the main thing missing from the GSR.

As for the articles claiming the RS is slower on the track; who wrote them Dan Rather? False but accurate? Give me a freaking break. The RS has a front LSD and weighs less. Otherwise it is the essentially the same car as the GSR. Same engine, same tranny, etc. They just dropped the ABS and a few other things for the RS. A good driver (read not one of the writers in C&D, R&T, SCC, etc) would prefer not to have ABS on the track. Threshold breaking is where it is at.

I don't intend this as hate for the MR. The addition of an ACD, a 6speed tranny, slightly better suspension, and improved turbo are probably worth the extra $5K over the GSR. In 2007 or so I may consider buying the equivalent. I'm totally addicted to the AWD goodness that the Evolution is.

MR, damnit I want a 6 speed. That would make the drive from Vegas to Tucson so much better.

Okay, if you want to quote auto journalists, I'm quoting Top Gear.

They always say, "this is the faster car, and that makes it the better car!" We've all heard that so many times on that show.

So when they tested the FQ400, they said, "you can get 95% of the performance in the FQ340, 320, 260, etc, for 45% of the cost."

They didn't like it because the Super-AYC requires too much maintenance, the clutch was too firm, the turning radius was too much (but so are other Evos), etc.

THey also chose the Porsche over the Ferrari because of the same reason. You get 95% of the performance for 55% of the cost.

So I'll concede that the MR is ultimately faster with a hamfisted driver, or a pro for that matter, but does that make it the better car? According to Top Gear, the choice isn't so obvious

You still don't have ABS, which makes your car the inferior car! And since you drive the inferior car, that makes you the inferior driver!!!

tweekscratch...

FYI ALL EVOs for 2005 have front diff....another thing the abs in the evo gsr and mr is not the same as the regular abs u find in camryand other regular cars, it s a sport abs designed for agressive driving condition thats y the gsr and mr out performed the rs. AND motor trend test drivers are very good raod racers.

The MR is the evolved VIII, It's a (HMmmmm, scratch Scratch) ...VIII.V! >>Wonder what the IX.V will be like, or the X.V? Doesn't matter, it'll still bring debate.

A 30k MR, This is a No Brainer! I'll take two MR's and turn one around for a quick 3k profit! ... after a few serious Holeshots of course. Than I'll be Super Happy with a new 27k MR AND a fresh clutch.

You are correct. The sport ABS can actually help pitch the car over, but you have to pay a little more attention to the weight transfer and it's not as counterintuitive as the RS, where with just a little dab with the left foot and it'll rotate very easily.
