used evo spotted, lot on drugs....
saw my first used evo on a lot here in boise...the lot is usually known for selling some very unusual cars, jacked up f-350's, a durango r/t and the such.
they have a black 03 evo. stopped and chatted with the salesman today, since there is a guy here from post falls that has been looking in the past for a good deal on a used one.
guy goes to get the keys and show me the car. black paint looks good. some lower quality toyo tires armour-all'ed up. interior is an 8 out of 10, scuffed and a little wear. missing the shifter knob. 14,500 miles, but bone stock...
$32,500.....
I looked at the salesman and said that seemed high for the car.
his response "it's negotiable".......
think it will be there for a while.....

I have an 03. sold new for around 30k(paid much less than that). is now worth around 24k according to nada. that to me is a very respectable depreciation %. take a look at other 30k sports cars or better yet suv's and I think that you will find our cars are holding well.
I think that there is a perception amongst some that the cars are depreciating quickly, but this is coming from 2 reasons..1-financing a car for 72 or 84 months and 2-trading in an upside down car or purchasing an evo for more than the dealer sticker..either way you owe more than the car is worth giving the perception that they are not holding their values....
just my .02

The reason it look like the EVO is depreciating quickly is b/c people are selling them too soon. Which is fine with me. If you have an 03 and want it to hold its value wait till about the EVO X comes out. By them Mitsubishi will have screwed it up so bad the people who actually know what an EVO is will sell their children's eye lids to buy the real thing.
Look at what Mit did to the Eclipse for an example of a car company screwing up. Unfortunately, the Eclipse does not have the legendary reputation the EVO has. If it did the GSX would be fairly valuable now.
