I'm so bummed out...I can't believe that my new car with 250 miles has thrown the code 3 times. They say it needs a new cat, but the code was for Bank 1 sensor and Bank 2.

How can replacing the cat take care of the first sensor being off?

This sucks. Come on Evo, stop being a freakin *****

Maybe it was from beating on your car from day 1. Which I highly doubt though. Id just have the dealership change the senors if I were you. Good luck with the new car and Im glad youve made the transfer over from EPhatch.

the SES came on before I started beating on the car...lol.

I'm gonna see if this cat. conv. replacement does the trick, if not, I'll start to go ape**** on them.

Afterall, I haven't done any mods and it's only been 200 miles

Yeah I feel ya man. Atleast the dealership is trying to fix it. Keep *****ing until its fixed right though. Maybe something happened during the 45miles that were put on the car before hand. Try to get some free oil changes out of the whole ordeal, I would.

Great QC Mitsu

Alot of companies have Cat issues including honda, they had recalls on the cats for the civics from 1999 through 2004 and 2005.
any new car can have problems.

It doesnt mean they suck...
Everyone has problems.
It would only suck if they told you to take your cat and shovel it.
but they will probably take care of you, right?

That is true ..... its all about the laws of probability and there are always a few bad parts that slip through the cracks ... what would be really awesome is if they replaced it with a high flow cat!

Usually when referring to bank one and bank two, you are referring to a V engine when there is a left and a right bank. If you only have that one code, then its just the rear 02 sensor that is setting the code which either means the cat is no doing its job or the sensor is not reading correctly.

ya well expect more problems, i know alot of ppl having problems with there 05 evos including my self, at 3000 miles i had a factory mechanical failure on number 1 rod, resulting in a full long block swap and turbocharger swap, and before anyone says it i'll beat you to it, i broke it in well, i changed the oil at 100 miles and 1000 miles never going over 4500 rpm until 1500 miles

i have a friend who is a technician at a mitsu dealership, he told me he took a 05 evo out for the intial drive when it gets off the truck and after 6 miles!! he had to swap engine and turbo just like my problem. lol when my evo was in the shop getting engine swap another evo was in there getting a engine swap too. lol, i love the car, but the intergrity of the product is questionable.

check lemon law on a search engine, mitsu is 3rd worst right behind chrysler and someother make in the most lemons on the road in the USA. If i would of saw that prior to buying it i would of maybe reconsidered. I don't mean to bash the evo, i love the car, but would i call it highly reliable? no
