just installed Apex'i AVC-R but..

just installed Apex'i AVC-R but..

hello guys
Today, I installed AVC-R on my 03 Evo with my friend.
But when I turned on the car, engine service light and anti-lock light showed up.
The car runs just like before..

one thing that I'm not quite sure:
I detached the hoses from stock solenoid (on plastic nipple). One of the hoses wasn't connected to any other component.


ahhhhh...I need help..
does anyone have the same problem or know what is going on here??

I think both of the BCS hoses have to be removed. How did you install it, where did the hoses go.

I connected the hose from T of BOV hose to 'NO' on solenoid. And the hose from wastegate to the 'COM' on solenoid.

I dont think thats the way I did mine. I know I capped the nipple on the intake pipe. I ran the hose from the wastegate to the Apex-I solenoid and the line from the turbo to the other side of the solenoid. Cant remember which on went where. No idea why your abs light would come on though.

Removed both the lines from the BCS capped them and leave it plugged in .

What is BCS??

and, what's the hole on solenoid (not COM and NO)? Should I leave it ??

on the stock bov you need to connect the loop the pressure source inlet and wastegate actuator hose inlet together with a loop. If this isnt done then you will throw a CEL. Just take some hose and route it to the other one. That should take care of your problems.

Also, the pressure source hose (i highly reccomend getting this from the FPR) goes to the 'NO' port. The wastegate actuator goes to the 'COM' nipple. Also try to make sure the screws for 'NO' and 'COM' are in the propper places for a stock turbo (Acuator Type, not External Wastegate unless you are running an aftermarket turbo).

BCS = Boost Controll Solenoid. It's basically your stock boost controller.

That hole on the solenoid is probably for an externally gated turbo. Leave it, but make sure that it doesnt have anything in it, like the little plastic nubs.

No problem bro, Thats what forums are for. We're here to help others out!! I just hope i helped. Those electronic boost controllers can be a P.I.T.A. to get right at first. We got stumped one time on a supra, and all it took was a little plastic cap in one place and it ran perfectly !!!

first, I have greddy type-s bov.

oops, i didnt mean to type BOV, i meant BCS :OH':: On the BCS there are two little nipples.... run a piece of hose from one to the other making a horseshoe.... just so their is pressure on it. That way, it wont throw a CEL.

If that doesnt make sense, i'll take a picture

If your getting a CEL from something other than a solenoid error (leave the stock boost solenoid connected to the wiring harness or you'll get it)

if your ABS light is on, its possible the wiring you spliced into to the ECU is wrong.. Alot of people get the wiring mixed up so double check which wires you hooked up there.. If I recall on mine, It connects to TPS, VSS, Injector 1 (or Tach signal), and a few other connections...

Anyway Hopefully you get it all straightened out.

Oh.. and if anyone hasn't figured it out..

NO stands for "Normally Open" / NC Stands for Normally Closed
COM stands for Common.. you connect the common side to the actuator so it can easily vent excess pressure if needed..
