Rust on my evo....

I have a small chip on my car that is starting to rust. It looks like it is a rock chip, would this be covered under the mitsu 100k rust protection? Its only about .05 inches in size and the dealer wants almost $300 to fix it.

no cause it was caused by something other than a factory defect

It's easy to fix. Go to Walmart, they have this sanding pen in the automotive paint section. Sand it in circular motions. Get your touch up at dealership, they might have to order it and ship it in a week and a half...the paint, and clearcoat. No biggie. That's what I did.

For further protection, try the 3M film on your fenders. It costs like $12 each and you can order it from your dealership. There's a How-To thread on it.

on my previous lancer OZ, i had a rust spot in my door jamb about that size (probly due to the sea breeze air) and they fixed it under warranty before it got any worse. Doesnt hurt to try, the worst they can say is no.
