AutoWeek Mangled My Evo-Vette-911 Letter
Several weeks ago AutoWeek did a mini-review of the new Vette. Two of their reviewers made comments about how the Vette was such a great bang-for-the-buck. I sent AutoWeek a letter. Here's what they published from me in their 02/21 issue:
"Your Feb. 7 Drivers Log said the new Vette offers more performance than a 911, which costs twice as much. I must point out, the Vette costs 1.5 times what an Evo costs without delivering 1.5 times the performance."
That is *nothing* like what I wrote. It doesn't even capture the *spirit* of what I wrote. Here's my letter:
"Both reviewers of the '05 Chevrolet Corvette in the February 7, 2005 Drivers Log commented that the Vette's bang-for-the-buckedness was second to none. I have to respectfully disagree. To me, the performance bargain king is the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII.
Just as the reviewers made their case for the Vette by pointing out that a Porsche 911 costs 2 times what a Vette costs without delivering 2 times as much, I'd like to point out that the Vette costs 1.5 times what an Evo costs without delivering 1.5 times as much."

In all honesty, that's really stupid, but mags have to edit things for space
i even read some other mags praising the new vette like its the new king.
