I think there's a kit where you can mount the boost gauge and an oversized tach in the cup holders. I don't think it's a dealer option until '04 though.

Also, where did you get your information about the 04 dealer options???

I was wondering where the hell the "cup holder tach upgrade" came from!
I got the same list, but my list didn't have descriptions... So, here's the list... don't ask me what these mean, but I'd be more than happy to discuss ideas....
Front Corner Air Dam
Nose Mask w/o License
Nose Mask w/ License
Side Wind Deflectors
Brake Air Guide
Car Cover, Japanese
Cargo Net
Earthing Cables
Front Strut Brace
License Plate Frame
Rear Strut Brace
Tire Chains
Wheel Locks
Instrument Cluster Surround (Meter Panel), Blue
Instrument Cluster Surround (Meter Panel), Silver
Scuff Plate Cover
Shift Knob, Silver
Shift Knob, Blue
Side Brake Grip, Silver/Carbon Fiber
Side Brake Grip, Blue/Silver
Sport Pedals, Silver
Sport Pedals, Blue
Sports Meter Kit
Sun Shade W-Logo
Now, I saw all the talk about the Front Strut Brace... Relax people, it IS coming with one in the front, but my guess is that this accessory one is a much BEEFIER one. The big one on the list for me is the Rear Strut brace, since that is most likely not coming with it, but would really help stiffen the rear of the car.

I'll agree with Fireball in that the rear strut brace is probably the biggest item in the list as far as performance is concerned. All of the other items are simply appearance mods (maybe with the exception of the brake air guides). Looking at the caliber of some of these items, I'm surprised that items like headlight fluid or radiator polish aren't included.
Personnaly, I intend to avoid buying any aftermarket items from the dealership (unless it's a big ticket item that lets me keep the warranty). There will be many third party companies where you can buy aftermarket parts for less. I'd also prefer to buy more intelligently designed items like an A-pillar guage pod from someone else rather than the
DIN variety.

I bet the rear strut brace is pretty much an appearance item too.
They do work, they just don't do very much AFAIK.
If you tried to put a "value" on them, it would be very low.
This from someone who, at the suggestion of one of his sponsors (who just happen to race and race prep BMWs for a living), doesn't even run a rear strut brace in his race car because the additional weight isn't worth the small additional gain.
These additional items look like just minor add-ons so the dealers can make more money on the car. Probably in response to the dealers wanting to charge over MSRP - they can now add-on high-margin accessories and boost their profits without directly going against
's suggested retail pricing.

these go in the single din slot? where does the head unit go then? is there a kit to relocate the environmental controls?
and by the way, you don't need a boost gauge in your line of site... if you have you boost controller/waste-gate set up properly, you should only need to see what you boost is when tuning... water/oil temp, now that is another story...
