I seriously doubt they will drop the charge. However, you may be able to settle for a reduced fine. Adding a lawyer into the mix is only going to cost you even more money. You may want to try and negotiate directly with the prosecutor who is handling your citation.

Although, if you take this course of action they are going to look at your past 3 tickets and ask why they should give you a break. Here's the tough part... Swallow your pride (definitely don't cop an attitude) and really mean it when you say you are sorry, you've learned your lesson, you can't afford any more speeding tickets, and you will save all of your excessive gas consumption for the track.

Good luck.

They can't charge you again for your tickets in the past unless you never paid them. It's called "Double Jeopardy". Read up on it.

If they do. You can sue because its a Federal Law that they are breaking and its against your bill of rights.

But make sure to Consult a Lawyer. I'm not one, I just know those facts cause something similar happened to me.

Double jeopardy is being charged twice(criminally not money) for the same crime. Being charged(money) for being a multiple offender is different.

He didn't say he was being tried again for the previous tickets. He said they were going to charge him $130 for prior tickets and that is for being a multiple offender. Reread his post.

It's just like getting a 3rd DUI. They charge you 3 times as much money because your a multiple offender.

When I was in Texas, Houston to be exact, It was raining and I was doing the speed limit on a feeder road next to the freeway. Had a 18-wheeler behind me tailing my ***. The light turned yellow to red and I thought about stopping but the truck blew its horn, and I knew full and well he wasn't planning on stopping nor could he in the rainy conditions. So we both ran a red light and not a block away a cop pulls me over. I told him I wasn't going to stop becasue I'd be dead based on the proximity of the 18-wheeler on my ***, no dice, got a ticket anyway and still refuse to pay the damn thing. I left Texas shortly after that to move back to Florida and my court date was almost a year out to contest the ticket but I could care less, and that was almost five years ago

man, don't they give you a warrant for that sorta thing?

anyway, talk to the lawyer, he told me to have a pre trial conference, talk to the solicitor as well.

if they refuse to reduce my finds, i'm going to ask for my lawyer. Then ask for jury trial, which will bump this whole thing into the city court, which is cheaper.

that's the advice that i got.

If I bump the whole thing down to fulton court, it'll take about 7 months.

Now they have a bench warrant out for you for failure to appear and the next time you get pulled over they can take your license away until you take care of it. Been there, done that. It SUCKS! I passed through the state of kentucky and got a speeding ticket. Didn't pay it for over a year and got pulled over in GA were the officer notified me of my warrant and took my license. I think most of the state's are on a national computer system now and officer's can tell if you have outstanding tickets in another state.

Get a lawyer to take a (motion to vacate) the last three ticket you had then have him take care of this one next it will cost $$$ but you will have a clean driving record. I've had about 30 tickets in the last 10 years and I still have a perfect record!

That's a good plan! Remember, just be cool and don't have an attitude when talking with them. They are people just doing their job, they didn't write the laws.

See, like I said... forget the lawyers. They'll just end up costing you more money.
