I agree with you that is quite tasteless. However, it is not finnish special. Take the french for example: again in this years Monte Carlo rally spectators were putting snow on braking spots so that cars would run out. It forced Petter Solberg to retire and almost ended Marcus Grönholms race. That's stupid AND dangerous while the clapping is just stupid. Also if some crashes, french spectators won't help them out if they are not frenc or driving french cars. It was the same in Italy back when Lancias were on top.

On the other hand, isn't it the danger of crashing out what ads the "spice" to all motorsports? While it certainly is dumb to clap when someone crashes his car which is worth an average house, isn't that what people wish to see? Think about NASCAR, who would watch it if there weren't these huge crashes eventually?

holy crap...that guy in the second video got crushed by that lightpole and then the car rolled over on top of him

 

Plokivos, that gigi video is inf*ckinsane. The drift at the end (ill describe it for you guys) he turns the car almost 180 degrees BEFORE entering the turn, slides backwards into it and just accelerates out of it forward like he was picking up the kids from practice.
