HP figure for the Evo 8
Has the Evo 8 been dyno'd yet ? The reason I ask this is because of the long-standing tradition of under-rating HP figures for various reasons. Insurance, Japan's "agreement" of 280 HP domestically, sleeper-ness, etc.
I want to believe it's actually more than 271, but I really doubt it. Consumers want power figures most of all it seems, so why would any auto manufacturer under-rate the HP of a car, especially with there being an ongoing competition for more and more HP. (WRX=227, Evo=271, STi=300+, and so on).
On the other side, there have been a few cases of auto makers actually OVER-rating the HP figures (Mazda Miata and the SVT Cobra to name a couple).
So what do you all think? 271 or 271+?
Personally, I think it's 271 on the dot, but Mitsu restricted the exhaust flow on purpose, knowing that it can easily be uprated. For about $800 I bet we can get close to 300 HP (with intake/catback).

Do a search. There are pages and pages reference a recent dyno..and the debate on it. Basically it made about 10hp less than euro-spec VII. It made 230whp on a Dynojet. I think it's a little under-rated. If the 230whp is the norm we will see...it would have an actual output in the 285-290 flywheel hp range.
