The Community ECU

So here's my idea.

I am wanting to get my ECU flashed however my car is my daily driver, and I really can't do with the down time. My guess is that there are quite a few other people in my boat. So I was going to purchase a stock ECU that I could use while my ECU was in the mail. After my ECU was flashed and reinstalled I would offer the community ECU to anyone needing a flash. I was thinking 10 bucks plus shipping would be a fair deal for use of the ECU. Once I recieve the community ECU back I will test it to make sure it still works in my car, then ship it off to the next person on the list, and so forth.

I haven't really thought this over, so please give me all your suggestions. Thanks!

Something like this would work in the audi or subaru community. However, evos will not start with an ECU that doesnt belong to that exact car, unless it is taken to the dealership, where they can re-key the ecu.

Its a quick turn around. We can normally get them back to you the day after we get them.

Out of curiosity, could you guys set up a core service? Ex.- charge my credit card 400 or whatever, send me a flashed ECU, once I recieve it I can send you my stock ECU, then you can credit me back on my CC?

Ofcourse you would have to do that "rekey" thing, would that be possible if I gave you my VIN also? Thanks.

sounds like a great idea but what would happen if someone desided to keep the ecu? it sucks that some people cant be honest when it comes to things like this.

In order to do something like this you would need to have the new ecu synched to your imobilizer box (seperate unit under dash) and your keys. Its not feasable to offer a core.

If you want to get that extra power you have to be without your ecu for two days. I send back all ecus the same day I get them via fed ex overnight - you can get it back as early as the next am.

I used to offer a rental car reibursement program but no longer as only one guy availed himself of the offer.

The problem is...The only way to re-key the ECU is to have the ECU, and the car in the same place, at the same time. If this were not the case, we could sell complete reflashed ECUs.

The Xede is another option for y'all. It is our piggy back unit, which doesnt require the ECU to be flashed. It is a little more pricey, but you will have something to sell some day, unlike a flash that has nothing that can physically be sold. Just something to think about.
