dave, you advertise 1/4 mile claims on your packages, yet you say "if you launch at 6k rpms it is abuse". so do we have to abuse our cars to get the same performance numbers that you do?

That is what I want to know. Okay, so abuse is not covered and we all know what abuse is. Well, I want to know if extracting the performance advertised by and Dave's BR series cars is considered abuse. When you get the numbers you advertise out of the cars, what rpm are you launching at? Are you slipping the clutch? Are you shifting without lifting off the gas? I am not at all trying to be a royal PITA, I just want to know if I enjoy the car, is it still going to be warrantied?

Just for you guys information

BR350 # 1 was racing at the track yesterday at the WRX vs. EVO shootout and did a 12.6 1/4 mile time with its regular new owner - driving causually - NO ABUSE

Thats very impressive performance for these simple warranty and emissions friednly mods !Typical Buscur Racing - it works and it works well

Thanks for making the post Al.

Steve brought his BR350 out the track yesterday as Al said. The car has just about 200 miles on it now.

In brochure for the car we advertised that the car would run 12.7 at 109 mph. This was an estimate and I am proud to say I pretty much hit the time perfectly.

Steve ran two passes, first was a 12.9 at 107 mph. I was happy with that. I "encouraged" Steve to make another Next pass was a 12.61 at 107.8 mph. This was done a full tank of pump gas just as he bought it off the showroom floor. Car is dead quiet with the stock cat and Magnaflow on it.

As for how he launched it. 5500 rpm and slipped the clutch as that is his style. NO power shifting, completely lifting to shift.

Steve is one happy guy, so are Al and myself. Thanks for the great tune for these cars Al.

First of all

1. Congrats to all.

2. Very good news.

3. I had a feeling Al was involved. (just a hunch from seeing that part about the ECU being "modified"s) I was wondering to myslef doesn't Dave B use and recommend boost controllers for performance upgrades?

4. Is this thing safe to drive for old folks like me? You do realize that I'll be using it to go and pick up my viagra, and my adult diapers.

5. I do see one in my future (my retirement present).

Sounds awesome! Good work.

Isn't the break in period 1000 miles though? I thought the break in period for these cars was VERY important for longevity of the motor (oil usage, etc)?

Also wouldn't the fact that he took it down the 1320 constitute abuse? I mean, sure if he drove 20 MPH down it wouldn't, but he didn't......slipping the clutch at 5500 in a competitive race enviornment would make me think that that would be abuse, no? Anyway, congratson the cars....they sound incredible.

The way that I see it is with the car modified, it doesnt make any difference for the warranty. Mitsu has made claims about their numbers on the car stock and now buschur has made their claims with it modified. Whether its stock or modified, it wont be covered if its abused. He has said the modified parts wont void the warranty so its really not changing the warranty. If you abuse the car when its stock to get the orginal best time claims out of the car then you might get denied warranty coverage just like you would if its modified and you do the same.

The 330 area code. That sounds like Ohio. Am I right? I think I may be interested in a Evo IX BR350 when the time comes. Are the packaegs you are installing on the Evo VIII's right now, similar to any of your "stage" upgrades? Would the 330 be stage 1 and the 350 a stage II as an example?

Just curious. I'm in the market for an Evo IX MR when the time comes. Im researching on BR stages and Vishnu stages right now.

Thanks David.

EDIT: Ok, I read more and found out that you are located in Ohio. I also saw that you mentioned the BR 330 is a stage 1 kit with a cat still installed. Does your normal stage 1 kit consist of 3" piping rather than 2.5? Also, if someone were to upgrade the exhaust, and use an O/R pipe and take out the cat, should then turn to 3" piping then, so the 2.5" wouldnt be resistrictive (If it would be.. I think it may, still learning about exhausts and the flow of them). Ima lso on your website right now, trying to find out more information before you can reply.

Thanks!

Well, I would like to add that I have finally had an opportunity to browse through your website, and already I am hooked and feel myself becoming an avid fan of your work. The amount of power you are able to squeeze out of the 4G63 on a stock turbo versus the price you are asking for your staged kit upgrades is remarkable. Truly. I'm impressed!

Once I purchase my Evo here soon, I feel I'll be going through Buschur Racing. I have spent days here reading and searching posts from your clients who have been working with you and haven't found anything bad that's been said. Stands for something in my book.

Question. The stage upgrades, will they be offered on the IX as well, in equal price, or do you forsee the MIVEC being a hinderance in tuning that may require extra work?

Dave & Al ... Good job in bringing an aftermarket approach to the Evo through the dealerships and being successful at it. Hopefully this kind of interest grows throughout the country. I mean ... if EasyStreet can modify STis in CA and manage to sell them through the dealer than why not right?

Question for Al is... Was the ECU reflashing on this done with EcuTek? I know EcuTek is pretty expensive because of the licensing.. used to have it on my wrex, but how does it differ from the more cost effective DynoFlash in terms of controllable ECU parameters. Is it easier to control boost through the EcuTek reflash and taper accordingly with the A/F than running an MBC?

Thanks,
Derek

Dave,

Is the owner of the dealership still planning on chiming in?

I would like to see it in writing from someone authoritative (employed by mitsu, not a dealership) that my reflashed, track driven car is still under perfect warranty.

Nice times for the BR350. I wanted to be there but could not get out of work. Anyways, thanks for answering my questions. So you are saying that taking my BR350 to the dragstrip and launching at 5500 with a little clutch slip IS NOT abuse, correct? If Medina will warranty that car after racing it like you stated above with only 200 miles on the clock, then I will be trading my 05 MR in on an Evo IX BR350 or even BR400 if you wanna build it! Once again, if this is correct, than great work you guys and you'll definitely be seeing me in the near future!

I was just wondering the same thing myself. Great job though David on bringing the BR series cars to the dealership. Personally I hope this kicks off something alot bigger for the whole aftermarket crowd and Mitsubishi takes note of it and decides to do some collaborating.

Al, is a custom Dyno tune/flash on a dyno the same thing as the ECUTek or is this different?
