Well, obviously you can't build boost without load, but when you apply the load at the proper RPM, you can shoot out of the hole at full boost...or you can do it at low RPM and bog down due to very little boost.

I personally feather my launch so that the clutch has already started to grab and so that I have a little forward movement before dropping the hammer. This makes it almost impossible to cut consistent R/Ts, but that only matters in actual race events. When I used to do a full 6500rpm dump, I would cut low-to-mid 1.6x's, but that resulted in numerous blown clutches and tranny parts. Now that I feather, I usually hit low-to-mid 1.7x's but with no tranny problems (to date) and only one clutch replacement (act 2100 to act 2600). This is on crappy all-weather tires that spin some (all 4), but that's ok for the same reason you stated earlier - reliability.

REV TO 5500 rpm then drop the clutch. It will not hurt any thing. I dont think you are making that much power. Your sixty foot should be much better also your e.t

I don't bog with a 3500rpm launch, because as soon as the last yellow lights up, I start letting off the clutch and then I floor it, I only got it to work the 2nd time, the the 1st time I had some big block chevy next to me and I couldnt concentrate, plus it was the first time I raced and I was nervous as all hell.

I think with a little practice I can cut a 1.79 60', with the method I'm describing.

edit:
nice runs...it sucked that it started rainin..but you can get out there again sometime and the more practice at it you will get better
Was nice to meet you guys btw, I had a good time, too bad my wife sucks with the camera, she screwed up on both runs.

It most certainly did NOT work if you cut a 1.92. That's worse than any 60' I've ever cut in any AWD car. You had to have still bogged to get such a horrible 60'. Like I said, my FWD beat that by a full tenth despite the front tires spinning madly all the way through first. I think the method you're describing is the same as my feathering approach, but you don't start at 3500rpm, you start closer to 5500.

To each his own...

But you aren't even launching at 3500, you are beginning your feather at 3500 then flooring it. When all is said and done, you may end up with a better 60', but your claim that it's a 3500rpm launch will be false.

Nice time, you would be in the high 12's with a better launch.
