What Evo should I buy? 2005 VIII, MR or wait for the IX and get either the 2006 IX or MR? I know people have stated some differences here and there on the forums about the differences. I'm looking for more of a standpoint of modifying the vehicle. I believe the VIII would be easier since everything is already out for it. Since the IX has the MIVEC, would it be harder to modify or exactly the same?

 

its all really preference....the changes are minimal between 05-06 and i think it'd be easier to tune the non-mivec 4G63 at this point because there are already a bunch of parts made for it, even most dsm parts work on it. However, i don't think it will be long before parts are made for the 9 if they arent being made as we speak.

This is a tough call, so I skipped voting. If you're looking for a NEW VIII MR, you have to make sure you can still get one. I know they are a bit harder to find than they were. I think the VIII will be easier to mod for a short while, then the IX will catch up as people start actually owning them. I personally thought that the differences between the VIII and the IX weren't enough to wait on...so I just traded my 03 VIII on an 05 MR (and I got a pretty good deal since it was after the auto show with the IX.) But, if you like the new stuff, and want that...wait. I was going to personally have to remove that IX front bumper, as I'm one of the people that doesn't like it...

i'd love to have a IX, but my buddy wants to buy my car now. But i could always drive my brothers 2000 saturn because he'll be in Europe for a year. I've wanted an Evo forever ever since I saw my first one back in 2001 in Tampa Fl, it was a VI. I don't know if I can wait 6 more months for a IX.

 

Get the Evo IX MR for 10k more than the 8 MR...

 

Im Wait for IX GSR.. I know Mievc will Bring More HP on Mods .. Like HOnda Vtecs..

 

I would wait to see what the Evo IX is capable of. I am betting that it will have a better top end than the VIII. Mivec

 

the 9 will probably respond better to mods with the mivec head. it'll be like having a VTEC turbo car. the current 8 will be easiest to mod though...

I dont know about X.. X might be Fugly.. and No more 4G63!!

 

Does anybody know why they decided to get rid of the 4G63?
