need help with 2 ecu's working with my car

My local dealer says they dont have the software or code to make the other ecu work. First they tell me I need 3 keys to make it work but later they tell me they dont have the password to unlock it so that my car will start with the new ecu.

Can someone explain how this works? What exactly does the dealer have to hook it up to or what not to make it work? Lets say if I send the ecu to the US and tell them my original serial number will they be able to make it work?

Thanks

did you buy out of the exact same car and matched the part numbers? if so it should work with just pluging it in, you keyless entry wont work untill you have them reprogramed though. but if you plan on using you other ecu after you get it flashed it shouldnt be a problem. what are you trying to get the dealer to do?

Yes, I have looked into this.... you need the code for the passive transponder embeded in the key. When you buy an EVO... on the ring with 2 remotes, one grey valet key and two black keys there will be a little aluminum tag with a number on it. This is the code your dealer needs, if you can't read it off a key or don't have the key.

Ah, just re-read your original post.

I'm not sure, I thought the dealer could retrieve the code from any key? Right?

If you can bypass the imobolizer -I don't know how. Sorry not much help.

Guru's??

Volunteer just messed with this. He has to get the 2nd ecu flashed Then bring it in with his car and his 2 keys. Then they (dealer) can set the new ECU to match the car. After that the origional (stock) ecu won't work any more. He was trying to have 2 ecu's working. One with flash and one with the stock.

One very important note....... Watch out for the P300 flash. If your dealer does it you will be locked out of your ecu's.

So it's NOT possible to have two Seperate ECU's for a single car at the same time? Confirmed?

Mark at TT told me before I send out the 2nd ecu to him I need to make sure I take it to the dealer first to have it programmed to make it work with my car. I dont mind if both ecu's dont work at the same time because as long as I can get the other ecu to start up my car then im good to go. Right now the dealer cant make the other ecu to start up my car. If they can program a key for just 1 ecu at a time thats fine because they can always change it back later. Its not worth it for me to fedex it overseas and pay the price. I can wait a week but the price is not worth it IMO.

Derek, you are talking about the immobilizer. There is a chip in the key and that the ECU reads that will allow the car to start. My car which I just bought only came with two keys. i was told I needed both keys in order to get it programmed.
I actually know a locksmith out here that can fix this, so you might want to check with the biggest locks smith in your area to see if they can help. Not all lock smiths can do it, they would have to specialize in Cars. They actually plug a cable into the car and grab the bin file that is in the ecu and reprogram it to match the key. (I could be explaining it backwards though) Hope that helps a little.

Did other people who bought the car get 3 keys? I did not get a valet key. I just got 2 black keys.
