Do you get a lot of transmission noise when your car is in neutral?

My cars an 03 just turning 5000 miles. I bought it from mitsu factory with 3400 on it ever since i got it when you let the clutch out in neutral the transmission is extremely loud push in the clutch and it goes away. im wondering if this is normal or maybe possibly a throwout bearing is going bad?

It's the throw out bearing... rev the engine when it's in neutral and if it goes away till it's back to idling, thats almost 100% what it is, mine does it too... It is "normal" in the sense that it's not hurting anything and won't, but it is also fixable. Mine has been doing it since my engine had to get replaced almost 10k miles ago. It's not your throwout bearing going bad, more like your throwout bearing slightly misaligned, which only causes it to make that rattle sound when disengaged, when it's engaged, it gets shoved into place and shuts up. And I've talked to many shops about it, and they all say it won't hurt a thing, including performance.

uhm... it should be the clutch springs right? not the throw out bearing? i'm actually not sure but i always assumed it was the clutch springs because i get this little rattle rattle when i'm idling... unless yer referring to the kinda of whiney whiney sound... which very well might be the throw out bearing.

The clutch ones can rattle too, but it's most likely the throw out bearing being slightly loose. It's not the ToB spinning around that makes the noise, that would be a whiney noise if the ToB was failing, it's a rattling noise from the ToB moving back and forth on the shaft.
