I think this would be a great time for this kid to learn about budgeting. If you have living (in this case transportation) expenses looming, then fun-time (in this case Prom) expenses need to either be scaled back a lot or eliminated. This is how life's gonna be... you gotta prioritize and budget accordingly...

OK, I can safely say that this is bull****. Go away, stop trying to start threads that are 120958*10^1235890715 pages long. You are just trying to get people riled up. By the way, how badly are the "rotors" warped?

ok....first of all....yes, my parents bought me the car. However, the deal was, they buy the car, i pay for all maintanance and fuel costs. I can also do whatever i want to the car as long as i suffer the consequences (ie no warranty). Thats how im getting by on $600 a month. However, if i want the car to myself when i go to college, i have to buy it from them, otherwise it goes to my brother (who will absolutely DESTROY it).
I do have enough money for a clutch and installation at the moment with some to spare for whatever else i want/need. The thing that i thought i was most screwed about was the rotors. I thought that i would have to replace them completely...but someone said i can just get them turned for now. This way i could save up and get new brakes, brake pads, and brake lines all at the same time.
So thank you to everyone for their advice.

ok...were u talking to me? because all i was trying to do was get some advice on what to do....not **** people off. And how the hell was i supposed to know that it was going to be a long thread? all i was expecting were a couple of responses from some people with some advice....not get **** from someone because i was looking for help. So thanks for your opinion!

That's just revolting. All this time people thought you worked hard to pay for your car, but in fact, all you have to do is work a few measly hours a week to pay for gas and mods? Ugh. How in the world did this thread get named "I'm screwed," when all you have to do is replace a few things, and that's all you have to pay for to begin with? Talk about not deserving an Evo...you don't pay the monthly payment OR the insurance, yet you were all worried about paying for a little maintenance? Disgusting.

poor nnorris... I even posted trying to take the heat off, but nooo.... Next time you post say how you WANT the flames... then they never come... oh, and I made that comment about Prom's cost for exactly that reason... If she's your girlfriend,, you're not trying to impress her, hit McDonalds in your prom outfits and hit the dance and then go see a dollar movie or something, blam... fun as hell if you're with someone you can have fun with.

Good call man... my wife and I left our wedding in our tux and dress and hit our favorite family sub shop all dressed up. Much more memorable than any nice restaurant we've been to

ok, so what, its not right for me to be 16 and own an evo? Then does that mean its not right for kids at my school to own THEIR OWN porches, ferraris, bmw's, mercedes, maseratis, etc? Everyone at my school has everything handed to them. They dont have to pay for gas, maintenance, or aftermarket parts. And yes, i am working hard to pay for the car because i have to pay for insurance and i have to buy it back from my parents in a year. So its not like they just gave it to me for nothing. They just paid for it until i gather the money to buy it from them.

nnorris, don't listen to these guys, I could be lame and say they're jealous, but that's a load of horse poo, and it'd start more of a battle than is already going on... as long as you're under 21 and own ANY kind of sports car, you're going to come across people like that, and you have to learn how to deal with them, like I have.
