Mitsubishi Dealers - Quality or not

With a lot of dealers attempting to rip Evo customers off, by jacking up prices and the like, well over MRSP, I was wondering how forum members generally find Mitsubishi dealers.

I bought a GST from a dealer in the Boston area, and a friend of mine got a 3000GT VR4 from the same place. We both hand serious problems with this dealer to the extent that I would not even allow them to service the cars after our experiances there.
I also tried to get a car from another Mitsu dealership for a friend
, and the salesman was so aggressive, that we had to leave and go somewhere else.

Dunno if this is the correct place, but maybe we could rate dealers here to try and, try and boost the good ones, and weed out the bad ones.

I'd be interested in what you have to say, because of my experience, I have been really put off buying a Mitsu again and
I feel they have a lot to learn about customer service

Well I can say that Mitsubishi needs to look at their respective dealerships and have their heads checked for all this over MSRP BULL****... When I got my Subaru (In the first shipment) It was exactly what the sticker said plus tax.. Nothing more, nothing less... I want my EVO, but I'm not giving away free money...

I say that we all go to the dealerships, test drive the demo's, and say kiss my *** to the over MSRP stuff... If we get enough people to do that, then they'll have to give it to us for the sticker..

Just a question, but how come nobody complains when dealers have to sell cars for substantially less than MSRP when the market dictates it? How is doing that different than asking over MSRP when market conditions allow it?

You have to remember that when dealerships charge less than MSRP it is still above their invoice prices. Hence they are still making a profit. It is up to the consumer to decide how much money they are willing to spend. If people want to spend over MSRP then go right ahead. I think once the STI comes out the prices will stick closer to MSRP if not less.

That is why I love this Country. Maybe you could get one cheaper in a socialist country. Oh wait, you would be too hungry to buy a car like this.

My dealer totally ripped me off. Rip number 1: Before I even sat down with the sales people to discuss price, I had them run a credit check on me to make sure I would qualify for the 0 0 0 deal. They checked and said that my credit score is fine, but because I am a student right now, with little income, I would only qualify for 9 months no payments instead of 12, which was fine by me. The other stipulation was my monthly payments couldnt be higher than 300 dollars, also fine since I was prepared to put up to 9k down on the car. So i agreed on the price with the salesman and put down my deposit. I come back the next day to meet the financing guy and settle on my downpayment, and he first wastes 45 minutes of my time because he cant find some form and then he starts bashing away at his computer and he asks me how much I want to put down and then he starts telling me i need to put down more because with the interest the payments would be over 300 a month. I got really mad and I told him that when i put the deposit down i was told i was getting the 000 deal except 9 months no pay instead of 12. Well aparently the salesman failed to mention that I was also only getting a low interest rate, not a 0 rate. So i got flaming mad at the finance guy and told him i was gonna walk and I wanted my money back. So he goes off somewhere to talk to someone and comes back and offers me that if i buy an alarm and extended warranty from them for the deep discounted price of 1000 i could get the 0 0 0 deal bcause the dealer gets points for selling them and he could pass the points to me or whatever. I told him not a bloody chance in hell i was gonna pay another grand so then he offers me to get just the alarm for 500 and I could get the deal if i put 8500 down. Now i was flaming mad and i told him i was gonna walk and he said the alarm would be covered under warranty of the car and at that point i figures i was gonna put an alarm in anyway so if i over pay for it by 200 bux, i guess its no biggie, i need the car. So I did it. Long story short, the alarm is a POS and its not even a mitsu accessory, its a dealer accessory. I had to go in 3 times to have it serviced, mainly because they never put a trunk sensor in so the alarm would arm if the trunk was open but the doors were shut. Also, i had them give me wheel locks with the car and they had them on back order for like 6 months and they finally give them to me last month and then i went to another mitsu dealer for service and they tell me i have the wrong wheel locks. The ones i have were for the montero and sport. I hate my dealer. I am glad i reamed them hard on the JD Power survey. I went to Manfredi in Staten Island NY. DOnt go there.... they are *******s.

ouch my head hurts...

Wombat, you got it right pal... They still make money from invoice.. Also, they (salesmen) usually are able to purchase their cars for invoice as well, so the whole 5-10 K over MSRP is total crap... At least that's what a close friend of mine told me, whom is also a sales manager at a dealer ( not Mits unfortunately)..

Guys, the key to understanding your frustration with car buying is to realize that no matter what dealership/manufacturer you buy from, you will have to deal with the slime ball salesman/woman!!

They lie, steal, and cheat for a living and I know this because I know several car salesman that are aquaintences and have told me so!

They will bend you over backwards "as much as you are willing" to let them!!!

They get kickbacks and all kinds of goodies for selling cars and they are making money at "dealer invoice" and even MORE at MSRP and anything over MSRP is a taking the customer to the cleaners!

Once the STi gets here, the demand for the EVO will lower and the dealers will have to lower prices because of the competition.

WOW As I was reading your entire statement I was saying to myself "This sounds a lot like my dealer" Well it was Manfredi Mitsubishi on Staten Island is possibly one of the worst dealerships on the East Coast. Beause Manfredi Auto Group owns nearly EVERY major vehicle brand they can be that way because they have a huge monopoly on highly desire auto brands. I'm currently dealing with them on the Evo VIII I want soso much, but it doesn't look like its going to happen anytime this year. I've had a $1000 deposit down on this car since Oct 2002, and I will surely be getting it back once we finally talk out the total cost of the car. They've been talking 5k mark up and I've been sitting patiently hoping that I can change them when it comes to sitting down and making a deal. Well they're a bunch of huge *******s and I doubt I'll end up getting the car. When someone says their service is bad, it means BAD! If I ever did get the Evo I would certainly never have it serviced from those morons. I'd rather drive 100 miles out of the way to a caring knowledgable dealer who cares about quality and making the customer happy.
