Question Evo 8 where to start and where to go

Hello everyone, I'm planning on purchasing a brand new Evoution 8 this June. I have been reading about this car non stop for the last two months. Trying to learn as much as I can as far as modification to advice to regular maintenance. I'm definitely coming out of the gate swinging and purchasing volk ce28n bronze 18" rims I fell in love with them as soon as I saw them. Keep the stock rims for winter usage as I live in New Jersey it can get pretty rough some winters.

As far as performance mods, I have my eyes on an intake and exhaust to start. I really like the Greddy Ti cat-back exhaust. Most likely going to get a hi flow cat, unless someone from the New Jersey area has input on cops with the noise level of these cars with no cat.

As far as intake, I see there are many types available from drop in filters to short ram intakes. I'm concerned more about quality and performance than price. Anyone have any perferences about intakes? Which brands/ kind I should look into?

Basically my only other question is as far as mods go, where do I go from there? I'm guessing a turbo timer and a boost gauge wouldn't be a bad idea. But after the intake and exhaust I'm unclear of what I'd look to do next. And I'm not to familiar with any of the electronic programs at all.

I know this is a lot to ask for but I know this is the best place I can go. I really apperciate anyone who gives me some feedback on any of this stuff. Thank you all highly in advance. There seems to be a lot of knowledge here and I know I'm asking my questions in the right place.

Thanks,
chaotichoax

just make sure you get good winter tires to replace the ones on the stock enkeis. cause from what i here , the stock tires suck in the winter

Yeah, the Advans are ice skates on the asphault, and tennis shoes on the ice
1. Boost Gauge
2. Turbo Timer
3. Turbo-back Exhaust
4a Intake + Tune
4b drop-in filter (a la K&N, etc)
5. Tune + Boost Controller
6. Cams
etc etc

This is all of course assuming you wanna drag race, if you're tracking the car, after #2 it should be:
3. Suspension + Alignment
4. R Compound tires...
Then continue the other list
This track way is pretty much the way I've gone, and I'm right up to cams now... they're next on the list assuming nothing on the car breaks...

I read in your post you said you wanted to purchase an Intake, you may want to make this one of your last mods seeing how you will need a tune to gain anything from it on these cars, someone posted awhile back stating that the stock airbox will outperform any Intake up to a certain HP with tune, and will outperform the Intake without tune.

could be wrong tho

No Kilter, from about 50000000000 sources, you are 100% right... and that's why I went with a filter... plus the cost... of it all

sorry that post wasnt directed to you . I just used yours because you listed Intake and Tune.

OT: your drop in any increase in Diverter Valve sound (or BOV) ? just wondering. because alot of people with INtakes claim the BOV or diverter vavle becomes louder just wondering if that is due to the lack of sound deadening found in the stocker

Yeah, all the turbo noises are a bit louder now... and I knew it wasn't directed at me, I was just backing you up.

are the Noises annoying or do they just enhance the pleasure sound of the turbo spool and diverter valve release? I dont think I am alone in thinking those noises are amazing. but if other not so pleasing noises arose I would have to reconsider
