It is interesting watching this on the datalogger at the track. Rpms go up , shift, rpms go up then down then up again, etc. There is nothing wrong with your car.
Same thing is happening to me and my buddy with an MR. I'll have to try this clutch trick next time it does it. I didn't know wtf was going on, lol.

This happens on all 05's. If it bothers you, just press the clutch in a 2nd time, and when you release it the rpm's will drop immediately. In other words, after you accelerate hard into the upper rpm area and press the clutch in, the rpms hang high. Just release the clutch in neutral, press the clutch again and release. rpms drop.

'05 MR. Have done one hard driving event. Nothing yet on mine...althought it sounds like it idles fast at start up....been cool mornings here though and thought it was just the warm up regulator. I didn't notice the high rpms driving though.... I just have the upper IC pipe and 1G BOV. Good info on this post from members.

Mark,

I am going to try what you said but keep in mind that I disconnected the 5 k rpm limiter switch. Would that affect your trick?, I mean, is tyour trick intended to be in use with the 5k rpm rev limiter?

Let me know.

The clutch switch has to be plugged in. I don't understand why people do this. I pull 1.71's using the stock limiter. At the end of a run I will clutch in a few times to reduce the rpms. If it doesn't work the first time, do it again. I'll do it multiple times out of habit. I also pump the clutch 5-10 times before the next run to get a consistant engagement point.

I know. What I quoted reminded me of the fast and the furious quote "not double clutching like you should"

So ultimately, I was being sarcastic
