Rebuild
As some of you know I blew my radiator and lost compression in cyl #3 at an auto-x about 2mos ago. I figured this was the perfect time to do what I had wanted to do with the car. I'm staying stock intake mani, stock turbo and stock exhaust mani for now. I only have so much money.
I sent the head and block off to the machine shop. I know the lady that owns it so I'm getting a good deal on: 1mm oversized valves that will have the 5 angle job done to them. I'll be getting new springs, locks, seats and retainers all to go along with exhaust porting and bowl work. The intake side will be smoothed out but not ported. Machine shop said I would be wasting my money for the small performance gain I would get out of it.
The block is getting bored 1 over to a 2.1 Eagle rods and Ross 1 over pistons will be installed. The piston rings will be file fit at 24(mm??) to compensate for the higher boost I plan to run.
Since my clutch was done I'm looking at getting a clutch masters stage 6 with lightened flywheel. On the opposite end will be a lightened crank pulley. Balance shafts will also be removed. Everything will then be balanced.
My transmission is off at Shep right now, I can't wait to get that back.
I have my Koyo radiator sitting at the shop with a 14" slim line fan going on.
Weight removal at this time will be the removal of both heavy fans and ac system. The ac was very easy to take out.
I'm hoping with the stronger bottom end, the built head and much lightening off the crank pulley to put down 400+whp.
I'm hoping to tip the scales now with my skinny but (150lbs) at around 3150 or lighter on race day.
I have a relocated and smaller battery, no trunk interior, no windshield washer bottles, front bumper removed on daily driving. Back seat removal, all speakers removed, radio, glove box, center console, rear deck, rear windshield wiper, front windshield wipers, upper tower brace and all ceiling pieces removed on race day
I was hopping to get close to Curt Brown but WOW 10.92!!!! I'm not gonna come close, nice job Curt!!
I have also picked up a UTEC so I can learn how to tune. And I finally will be able to install my Craig Hardy gauge panel, Defi gauges and control unit.
I'll be working on it this weekend. I'll try to get some good pics for you of an engineless evo.
When dyno time comes you all can be sure I'll post my numbers up.
