clicking sound: please help.

Clicking noise coming from left side of evo. Please help me figure out the cause. Here's the evidence:

-I only hear it when my window is down
-I only hear it when there is a curb or some other close object on the left side of the evo (i.e., the sound deflects off the curb or nearby object).
-I only hear it when I'm in motion.
-It seems to be coming more from the front rather than the back--but I'm not sure (but only on the left side)
-It is definitely noticable--it's loud enough for passangers to notice it (but only when driving next to a curb or something else that deflects sound).

-The noise began right after I had an alignment yesterday morning. Also, during that visit to the local tire shop, I had a nail removed from my right rear tire (and patched). Therefore, the noise may or may not be causally related to: 1) the alignment; 2) having the right rear of the car jacked up with a shop jack (i.e., a lot of weight was put on the left front when the right rear was jacked up, right?)

-the clicking sound occurs ever half second--REGARDLESS OF THE RPM of the motor; but increases in frequency with an increase in the speed of the car itself. In other words, the sound occurs at a faster rythym at 40 than it does at 20 (even if I have it in neutral and the engine is merely ideling).

THANK YOU VERY, VERY MUCH.

Have you checked for another nail or embedded object in a tire?

it sounds like somthing in a tire, or somthing going on with your wheel/tire/lower suspension. check for heat/dust shielding around brakes, tierods, and anything else under there. i accidently bent one of my tierod dust sheilds, just ever so slightly. as i drive that SOB ticks, its bairly audiable (and everyone comments on how they can barley hear anything over my exhaust) but i know its there

Sure sounds like you have a rock or nail in your tire.

How many miles it could be the brakes...If its a click/Rubbing noise it could be the brakes if not its what the other guys said.

Thanks for yalls imput. I have only 5,000 miles on the car...

I just checked the front tire for any rocks, nails, etc and couldn't see any....

Is this something that would be under warranty (i have no mods)? But, I doubt the mitsu dealership can figure it out anyway!

Thanks.
