Autometer gauges work just fine. If you use their plastic capilary, just make sure it's not kinked.

i have heard a lot of bad things about autometer gauges, like reading off by as much as 5psi. if you just want a general idea of what's going on plus the added look, then it will suit you fine. but if you are planning on doing serious tuning, i would recommend buying either the nexus series from autometer, or from a completely different manufacturer (i highly recommend defi). that boost gauge you are looking at sells for about $60, while (standalone - no control unit needed) gauges from other manufacturers are around 2 times more expensive... you get what you pay for

i have that gauge, no problems and reads accurately. Guess you just have to know how to install it inorder for it not to read 5 psi off.

How do you know it reads accurately - what method did you use to verify it (second gauge, data logger, etc)?

One thing that seems to be a good idea is to install boost gauges and run datalogging software on your car when stock for atleast a few days. This way you will have a baseline of numbers to compare against and you can verify that the stock boost is reading correctly on your boost gauge before the manual boost controller changes everything.

So what gauge do you have? Oh, never mind you have an MR.
Install the Autometer right and it's fine. I've had no problems with mine. VDO is good too. I had one in the Eclipse for at least 4 years with no problems.

I will be getting Defi BF Amber gauges, and had Defi gauges on my last car (turbo integra). Granted, many of these problems could be due to the install but my friend had an Autometer boost gauge in his otherwise stock WRX and it read 1psi when the car was off

Just search the forums for "autometer boost gauge" and you will see what I mean.
