You have all the time in the world. If you dont have the car now, you'll have it in a couple of years. I know it sucks to wet your pants upon thought and site of it, but soon that phase will pass and youll start working towards your goal.

I was in the same boat as you 6 years ago. I wanted a 300zx Twin Turbo so bad... I had enough money to buy one out right, but my parents wouldnt let me have it. They said the insurance would be too much. I would have gotten it anyhow ( as i made about 10k a year). ...Enough to cover insurance and spending. I never got it and i am glad i didnt, because shortly after in 2001 i joined this forum and anticipated the relaase of the evo.

So, in short, hold onto your thoughts and wait around for a better deal, car and/or time. You'll get what you want. I bet you partly the feeling of wanting this car so much is to impress whomever with it. If not, thats how i was slightly. It was more a selfish thing than a humble thing.

Good Luck.

Aside from all the negativity about this guy wanting an Evo and not being able to afford it I will go out on a limb. At least he is doing what he can to get what he loves. It's better than the threads I see about some 17 year old spoiled brat getting an Evo and then trashing the clucth after 100 miles. His post was more or less about patience. To the original poster: Good luck getting the car, I have a feeling you deserve it. When you do get it, take care of it.

Indeed I will. I have thought of other things, getting something to satisfy my somewhat and blasting myself with excuses and reasons to get it, reasons why the "other" car instead of an EVO however I am just cheating myself, for once I want to round up the strength to hold out and not settle, I have a habit of doing that and it screws me over every time. I am not a fan of the threads where "EVO or 350z MY DADDY IS BUYING IT FOR ME." I checked with my credit union and I currently have a credit score of 591, those are the people who will be financing me so the other score doesn't mean crap. The loan officer told me that the only negative thing on my credit was my high credit card balance, I told her what I was planning to do put $3,000 down on a $24,000 car... an EVO and she said as long as I keep up with the trend I have set as far as managing my bills and payments and I stay doing what I am doing she said it is nothing to worry about... The reason why it is so low I guess is because I do not yet have any accounts that have lasted 12 months or more... I have a loan that will be hitting 12 mo. in October and my credit card I will have been paying on for a year in June. I am excited and it kinda puts me at ease a bit knowing all I need to do is keep up what I am already doing and wait... I think I can manage. I don't see too many people my age that go out of there way to get what they want.

The car is not a responsible choice, I could buy something more sensible, it will cost a lot... but you know what I have to say to that. Life is not going to end for me with sappy music and greivence, it is not about that to me... I am going to fly into the grave yard sideways on a skid. park into it and then say HOLY **** WHAT A RIDE! You only live once, I don't plan on living my life like a troll under a damn bridge, EVO all the way my friends.

Don't forget to budget an additional $150-$200 every month for insurance; you're 17 or 18, right?

I'll be 20 in February. I currently pay $267.00 per month with Progressive for my Explorer under my mothers name, I have a clean record but only have had my license for 4 months. I got a quote from Progressive under my mothers name for an 03 or 04 EVO VIII and it was $271.00 per month with the exact same coverage. Kinda F'd up I know. I can afford the car that isn't the issue... I have calculated all the figures.

Good luck.....but just think it through carefully. After all, it's just a car.
