Inspection steps to take when buying a used V///.

I was wondering if some brilliant minds can give me a list of inspection steps to take when looking over a used EVO, some things to consider, some things to watch out for an what things should scare me off etc etc. Where should I take it to be looked at? or is my own inspection good enough, if I were to take it to a Mitsubishi dealership how much would that cost for them to tell me what's wrong, if it has indeed been taken care of or beat/wrecked/overboosted etc. I also worry alot about the clutch, I hear they are junk so what are the odds I will need one right away? Carfax, any good or just a load of crap? I want to make sure I have all angles convered when I get my V/// so some guidance from those that own or have bought used would be great, thanks.

Carfax is a given...a good mechanic should be able to answer most of the aforementioned

carfax is worth finding out if the car you're thinking of shelling out coin for has outstanding finance, or has ever been on the insurance register.

you should definately try and get an Evo-owning friend, or someone who can give an unbiased opinion on the vehicle's condition and value for money, to accompany you.

a careful walk-round is a good way to start. during this you should look at how the panels fit, and at the general condition of the paintwork

check the rims, which can easily damaged by careless driving

the tires should look properly inflated and have even wear across the thread
if new tires, ask why

check the color on the calipers. new = bright red / white logo
cooked = slightly brown-red / bit yellowed logo

besides the above, the biggest thing im going to look for is if the warranty is still active on the car, and if any service has been done like tranny work.
