am I doing something wrong?

This only happens going from 1st to 2nd. When I floor it in 1st and pop it into 2nd at redline it always has this thump(car jerks a bit) like its hurting the tranny or something. This only happens when im shifting fast, is this normal because of the power and 4wd?

Never happened with my Evo, but I used to have the same thing happen in my BMW. I don't think it every hurt anything. Im not positive though.

The car has a lot of torque so you're going to notice re-ingagement of the clutch somewhat. You should make sure that you're shifting quickly enough so that you don't let your revs fall off too far though. It's all about getting used to the car and clutch. Practice, practice, practice...... Have fun!

Likely when you shift fast you are quicker than the clutch fluid can flow through the restrictor, and the clutch isn't fully engaged when you get on the gas again. I feel this once in a while in my car and if I get off the clutch slower and hammer the gas but it's very rare and not that bad. I'm installing a Stainless Steel clutch line to see if the engagement gets a little more positive with the stock clutch, which should help extend it's life. I can already tell that the torque I'm putting down is going to stress the clutch right after shifts, let alone the 5k stutter launch since it builds a solid 8 PSI now.

I get a thunk in the rear diff everytime I do my 1-2 drag shift. I do a really, fast and powerful speed shift, so it doesn't really surprise me. I try not to do it unless at the track, so that it preserves the car.
