What configuration were you running.

On configuration #1 (full configuration) I can turn a 2:06 with Buschur stage IV and coilovers/Kumhos. I think Robi full tilt evo is several seconds quiker than that.

QUOTE FROM JAKEMATE:Brakes were great. I have stock pads and fluid and they held up pretty well. A few times I felt them starting to go a little, but I just changed my braking a hair and they came back. Pretty impressive for OEM. Pads and ATE Super Blue would make them great.

AHEM...........you mean your FRIEND has stock pads right

Nice write up...i also found my stock pads and fluid to be great....not really any "mushyness" after 6 20 minute sessions of abuse.

edit- i meant, MY FRIEND'S STOCK PADS

When I said "my pads" I meant the car I was driving which is "my friend's" car.

BTW...I have the under car short shift kit on the Porsche and its much better than the in car version in my opinion. I had the in car B&M in my '99 C2 Carrera and didn't like it. I agree that the OEM shifter doesn't feel right. The GT3 and the 997 are much better.

Bracer... we were running the full configuration with the bus stop and Star Mazda clockwise. 2:06 is a pretty incredible time. I think I could get closer to 2:10 on R-Compounds in the Porsche but I'd need some serious changes in my ability to get down to 2:06.

I totally agree about the 997. My dad just bought a 997S and the shifter on it feels very solid. I've only driven it about 5 miles, so I didn't do any heel-toe downshifts. Plus, the car only had about 50 miles on it, so I didn't want to beat on it too bad. The cool thing about the car is that it came broken in. The car had 150 miles on Road America within the first 600 miles of its life. There aren't too many cars that could take that.

Nice writeup.

Over here the main complaints about the JDM models are the lack of brake pedal stiffness and brake fade, easily cured with stainless steel braided lines. Stock brake pads are OK but the best I've tried so far the DS2500 which is a street pad but still good for ocassional track use. Do you use left foot braking?

No I don't left foot brake at the track but I do when driving an automatic....always have.

Finally got some videos up. Not very exciting but here they are nonetheless:

Also....if you go to this site and download the huge HD video called '8 Cars, One Straight' you'll see the EVO from and outsiders perspective. The video is HD quality so looks amazing but its pretty big.

What configuration and direction did you run? Different configurations have significantly different lap times. Did you run the Bus Stop or the full Back Straight (dog leg)? Did you run Star Mazda, or the Sweeper? Did you run Magic Mountain (lost hill) or the Drag Strip? Did you run clockwise, or counter-clockwise?

# 25 CCW is my favorite configuration:
