hey guys, i did a bad thing. at the drag strip i'd got over aggressive on the shifting and one of my 2-3 shifts i poped the shifter link off the transmissions bracket (or specificly the rubber o ring). i figured out what was wrong and put it back on. heres my problem. now when i shift into fifth gear i scratches. Unless i let the rpm drop to like 3k or i do and unusally slow shift into fifth it does this small grind i call a scratch . im wondering if my link arm is bent? thing is none of the other gears do this. I woold have assumed the 2-3 shift would be acting bad since that is the one i did it on. my second guess is that the clutch is just getting bad. I do drag the car allot and just recently its been slipping on passes. anyone else have this issue. thanx

 

Maybe its not related( or it is), and you have just a bad 5th synchro, it was a recall.

 

there isnt much to bend as far as linkage pieces, they are cables and the brackets in the trans, I would guess that there is an internal problem with your trans
