Salt, etc. hurts the paint job and running the stock advans in snow or below freezing weather is like ice skating with slippers, but that's about it. I bought my evo to drive in the winter.

yes Evo is great for winter, just spend the money for some real good snow tires and you won't regret it. I have the bridgestone blizzak WS-50

yeppo. blizzak lm25s myself (z rated). More like all-season compound (almost) with winter treads. Better for the rare snow. Great car in winter.

They are better than most cars out there in the snow. The AWD will take you anywhere but at least get some all season or snow tires cause the advans are terrible in the snow. I bought my car new when it was snowing and I had to skate it home the whole way which was pretty scary in a $30,000 car with 20 miles on it.

LOL same with me, Ive had my share of slidding through a couple intersections, and going sideways around turns.

Get either some good all season tires or some snow tires. It's the only way to go if you want to drive it in the winter. Peronally I'd do snow tires and new wheels so I don't salt up the stock Enkei / BBS wheels.

Yeah I had to try the advans in the snow at least once... I went up the driveway and said, hey this isn't bad. I went around the block and then I tried to use the brakes. All I can say is at least I know my ABS works. They kicked in for about 50 ft while trying to stop. Yeah I would not drive the car in any winter weather with the advans. I wish I lived in the south, PA weather sucks.
