Highway Break in?

Well, I finally picked up a fabulously gorgeous MR on friday and already have 300 miles on it. I plan on taking about a 400 mile roadtrip this weekend and was wondering if this may be not such a good thing. I'll probably have the Mitsu recommended 600 on the car by Thursday, but am concerned about long highway miles this soon. I've already decided to break it in gently with the occasional spirited run. Would 4,5,6 shifts on the highway give me the proper RPM modulation/load or is the extended high speed alone what is to be avoided?

When I picked up my MR I asked about a break-in and the service manager (who owns 2 evos) said I did'nt need to. 5K so far and no probs.

highway driving won't really break in the brakes and clutch but you are already have way there with 300 miles

I only have 1100 miles on mine and I havent been beyond 5K rpm just yet. I wonder if you have a flash like me (Works P2 Flash since 500 miles) what the break in procedure would be?

I believe break-in is over once you hit 600 miles (at least for '03 models). In my case, that was done on the drive home from the dealership (I bought mine out-of-state). I didn't want to break it in on the freeway, but didn't have much choice in the matter. I did as mentioned and varied the gear/RPM where I could. I also got off the freeway a few times, let the car cool, grabbed a bite to eat, etc... Oil consumption has been minimal and performance is all there
