Angry Our are cars vandalism/theft targets?

So I went out to my car this morning and discovered it had been broken into.

I didn't notice at first, and then I saw my glove box open, the visors down and the front ashtray and its sub $2 in change missing. I looked in the rear and saw that one my windows that I had left cracked the night before was forced down enogh for them to open the door which was still open.

Why would someone break into a car to steal $2 in change when I have guages, a turbo timer, cds, and even a camera that was in the glove box they looked in ?

Anyway, now I have to find a new ashtray/change holder that will cost more than the value of what they stole .

And to make a long story even longer, when I had my yellow O.Z. it got egged, had trash thrown on it, and got broken into. I could understand it if I lived in an area with a high crime rate but I don't, so is it just the car or are the stars aligned against me?

This happened to my friends Ford Explorer while we were at Mardi Gras. He had two 12's, amp, many cd's in a case, new shoes in the box still, and golf clubs that were not even touched. Nothing was taken except about $3 in change from his cup holder. To replace his window was something crazy around $180 to install a new one. So he was out $183 total. Makes no sense, does it.

It's the drug users. Well here it is anyway..... All that for $2 worth of crystal meth.

Pisses me off, reminds me of all the stuff I've had stolen in the past.

Bait Car

It's so bad here they have this.

My flatmates car got broken into the other day they took a single cd in the glove box and about $10 change and his ashtray.
Window cost about $15 US to replace and we put it in ourselves, luckily my Evo gets the garage

my car has been broken into twice in the past two months. both times there was a lot of stuff taken including petty little stuff that really wasn't worth much of anything to anybody else but me. That's the stuff that really sucks to get taken, is the stuff where you know they were just thinking 'why the hell not take it, we're already taking the rest of his stuff'. The last time they pretty much stripped the car hard core, they even took the floor mats, the spare tire and tool kit and jack, my burnt cd's from the console, some dirty laundry, and the HVAC controller so now I sweat my ***** off in the heat becuase some retarded delinquent thought it was a radio or god knows what. The second time happened so quickly after the first, I didn't even have time to get the alarm installed on the car yet, though it doubt it would have stopped them from breaking the window in the first place to get into the car.

I don't think our cars are targets per se, but I do think that if there are theives in the area already breaking into cars, they'll be sure to hit the one with the big wing that looks fast. That's what happened both times to mine, in with another group of cars that also got burglarized, not picked out singly.

i feel your pain. i'm in socal and i left my car outside and someone broke my driver side window with a spark plug and took my pioneer avic-n1 just the tv unit not the brain. all this happened within 30 minutes also. because i came home about 12AM and left again at 12:30AM and it was broken into. they left the door open with the glass shattered on the floor and the two screw drivers used to steal the tv.
