AEM or Helix intake? Anyone with dynos...

I'm trying to chose between these two and I'm looking for dyno results of the gains--the dyno link on the AEM intake webpage is down.

TIA

The results are minimal. The stock intake works fine until 550whp or so. You would basically be paying $300 for immeasurable gains, and that's ONLY if you get it tuned. With just the intake, you'll lose power/idle/driveability until the tune.

Btw, between my first and 2nd dyno pulls, I gained 10whp with no changes to anything. I could have put in my K&N panel filter between runs and claimed 10whp gain, but it wouldn't have been factual.

Umm, there are gains from an intake. In the newest trubo magazine the put the aem intake on the evo, and it was like 9 whp. Their are gains, but the most significant gain from any mod will be tuning!!

I am using an Apexi Power Intake. The evo feels alot quicker and more responsive. Plus I also have the Apexi N1 cat-back. No tuning ,yet. Its an 05. LOL

Not without tuning. Replacing the intake with nothing else does not just suddenly give 9whp. In most cases, it reduces the performance, driveability, and idle. Claiming 9whp just from replacing the stock airbox is not believable.

I put just a short ram intake on my car and have had no noticeable probs. Lots of us on here have intakes w/o tuning.

But I have heard a lot of tuners say that just the drop in filters are all you need.

What I personally like about the cone intake over the stock box is the sound. Thats really it. Sometimes I consider putting the stock box back on just to see if it will make a difference with the exhaust.
