I need an opinion on this!
My service engine soon light has been on for a while now. It came on probably a few hundred miles after I installed my TBE w/ high flow cat. I assumed the light was because of the new exhuast. I took it to the dealer and they said that might be the reason why. But just recently I took my car in for inspection, and although the check engine light was on, when they hooked it up to the computer for the emissions test it comes back with no diagnostic trouble codes. The fact that the light is on but there is no code seems to fit with the fact that the dealership said "the exhuast might be the reason". Like they didn't get a code either and didn't look into it any further. By the way I didn't get the inspection done at the dealer, just a local place where I know the people who do it. Is it possible for the rear o2 sensor to trip the light, but the ECU not put out a code at the same time, or is my light just broken. A bit of further info is that when I reset the computer the SES light will stay off for about a 1/2 hour of driving before coming back on. The I had never seen the light on until one day I started the car to go somewhere and it was immediatly on. I am under the assumption that the light would not come on for a problem, other than if it was broken, without the ECU spitting out a code. The car runs great by the way. Any opinions on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
