Need some help getting a car

Ok here is the problem i have. My dad will help me get a car up to 30 grand but i have to pay everycent back (im going to have a really good job in 2 years to pay it back i just want to get a car now) for a while i was sure i was going to buy the evo. after hanging around these forums i noticed that the evo has many problems with warrenty and they cost a lot to repair. since im going to have to do repairs by my self and since i will have a crappy job intill im 18 i wouldn't have a lot of money for repairs and other things (such as gas and mod money) i plan on driving the evo like a normal person execept sometimes when i want to have some fun of course after i break it in. anyway do you think i should get the evo or should i get somethign else. i was thinking a honda s2000 but im not sure please if someone has any cars that are reliable and fast or should i just get the evo. if the cost for the repairs go to high i will have to sell it and i will lose a lot a money that way.

if you buy it and don't mod it to much,and drive normally,it will be good to go. you just have to treat it nicely and she will be good to you! then once you get a good job,then start moding and having more fun out on the tracks.

just get the evo, you will have no regrets...youll find ways to make more money adn if you keep it stock, you wont be spending much on it anyways.

Please remember that the most knoledgeable people usually customize their cars and drive them hard. The most knoledgeable people are usually the ones to join forums too

My opinion is most evo's are bone stock and not driven hard on a daily basis. It shouldn't put you through any trouble if you drive it softly (most of the time ). Dont pass up buying an evo just like I did.

it is a high maintenance car though and requires a lot of TLC. Insurance is gonna be high since you're under 18. If you're willing to spend a lil more money for some fun then go for it. If you're cash strapped, go for the s2000, it's a pretty nice car also, can't go wrong with it.

the evo is reliable. if you dont go mod crazy, your warranty will cover your repairs... they cant void your warranty as easily as they think they can.. if they do, start using words like lawsuit, federal law, etc. they know the deal, they just try to get away with being shady.

This is going to be hard advice, but here goes.

Don't do it.

You said you will have a nice job in two years, I take that to mean you don't have one now. Take the money from the old man and buy yourself something practical to drive. Then, in a couple of years when you have your new job, pay off the practical car and save for an evo. Then you will have money to mod the evo, pay for upkeep, pay for track time, etc.

Now, with all that being said, I'm apparently unable to follow my own advice. I love the evo and it was probably the best car purchase I've ever made. I still owe a fair amount, but it is (a little) less than what the car is worth so I'm ok. If you're going to buy an evo, getting a loan from the old man is probably the best way to do it. That bank is the most forgiving you will ever find.

Best of luck to you no matter what you choose.

Go for the Evo. The S2000 is way too much money for not enough car. If you end up not being able to afford the Evo I would check out the 350z.

I agree. Just don't jump into the band wagon. Look at the whole picture. Yes it's an Evo but if you're pinching for every penny it's not worth it. Get something cheap and fast...S2000 is a good choice if you find one cheap enough, but hell, if you're lucky, you could find a used Evo too

I test drove both car s2000 and EVO, i advice you to find a used Evo. You wont regret it. I found my for 20k with some mods in it. Just make sure you check out everything before buying it.
Get a sidejob to start paying back your pop.

thanks guys you made my life a lot easier. im going to get an evo . most likely a used one but maybe a new one . i was scared about taking care of it. but i guess ill just stick to show mods for a while then mod it out with engine stuff. thatnks guys and your help was greatly appreciated

stick to no mods, then you won't waste money or possibly loose out on a warranty claim. If you keep it stock, they'll have a alot harder time denying warranty work.
Be sure not to totally rag it out.
The dealer told me they denied clutch and other types of claims due to looking at the engines ECU and reading what the high rev was. Found out he was always at redline and denied him a claim.
Don't know how true it is, but i wouldn't be surprised if key peak values weren't stored in the ecu for the dealer to look at.
