Paint is ****ed!!

Yesterdsay i went to the carwash and used the pressure washers like i had always done before, after i dry my car i see the paint looked faded and whiteish!! I was like WTF!!I wanted to cry b/c i couldnt get the color back! I put wax in it and did not help at all. I went to my dads and he helped me out since he is a clean freak for cars. We ended up buffing the paint with a high speed buffer. Everytime we buffed tons of red paint showed up on the foam pads and on the rags. Did the whole car and it seemed to get the paint back to the red color. Aftet that i applied some expensive wax he had and now the paint looks good and looks normal. I dont know what happened at the carwash . I wish i never bought the red car. I found out the paint has no clear coat, wtf! Everytime i buff the car red paint comes out.Now im affraid that the paint will start to loose color with time and fade and then mitsu wont cover it. Anyone have this same problem with the paint? What should i do if the paint is ****ed b.c of the carwash? Should i make a claim or get a lawyer? The car looks normal now. There are still some spots but barely noticeable that im sure will go away with time. Anyone have paint come off on the red Evos when buffing? Need some suggestions please!!

the paint might as well be chalk because you can brush it off. on top of the accident i just got in with my garage ($1150) i just tapped a bucket parked behind me and the paint straped of the bumper! i cant belive how thin it is. but then again i knew that coming into buying the car by reading on this forum. o well i guess its just part of owning this amazing car

I think its all mitsubishi paint.. my OZ rally with Y01 lightning yellow is starting to get transparent and fade. I've only had the car for about a year.. 27k miles. Terrible. I know in another year I'll have to get another paint job so it doesn't look like crap. That sux dude.. =(

you can try the dealer but they suck about the paint. i continually have the same problem with my car (blue). sometimes when i wax it, i get blue on the cloths after going over the mirrors. i even kept the wipe and showed the district rep and had nothing to say. they are a bunch of idiots. i just plan on having my car painted the stock color and putting another stage of clearcoat over it once the car gets to a point that i can no longer stand it. my hood is chipped so bad, it looks like it rained rocks on my hood. that is why i am just going to get a CF hood. for the money that it would cost me to have the hood repainted and clear coated, i can get a cf hood.

you need to polish and wax alot.. i spend one weekend a month doing this. I put on 6 coats of tech wax last month.. used zymol this month and its a huge difference!.. the zymol hides every scrath.. just need to know how to wax properly. You can put that stuff on and take it off before it dries, use a spray bottle and super microfiber clothes and dont press down.. you just remove the wax when you do that. If your getting red on the pad your pressing down with to much force. If you ever shined shoes to a mirror finish you would know that not they way you polish.

I don't own an Evo yet, by I do have an 03 Eclipse which is, as we speak, being repainted to the tune of $4800 courtesy of Mitsubishi. The clear coat on my car had degraded to the point where, in spite of my fanatical care of the car's paint, the roof, the hood, and the trunk looked like a jawbreaker that had been sucked on (white showing everywhere). Actually, my paint was horrible when I bought the car new two years ago, but I didn't say anything. Mitsu might cover yours under warranty. Ask them. They're going to want to look at it and take some pictures.

By the way, the shop that is doing my car said that they have had several eclipses come in for repaints. Hopefully, Mitsu gets wind of this fact and corrects the problem at the factory.

Rally Red is the only color without a clear coat... soon there will be many pink Evo's out there.

basically, if you have Red, you better be handwashing and garage-ing the damn car.

Thanks for replies! After polishing it and waxing it, it looks good now and i looks really red and has a mirror gloss look to it which is good. But how long can we red evo owners wait until we have to get repainted for this ****?!! And i know we will go through hell with mitsu unless all the reds start to fade and theres mad cases about it ou there! Well im just going to keep waxing the car everytime i wash it so the paint stays red and glossy. The stuff i used that my dad gave me is awesome!! Both the polisher and the wax. Its like $30 a bottle!! And u cant get it in stores only on the net. I went to mitsu about this when i first got the car that paint had come off when i polished it and they said it was dead paint from oxidation and that it would fade like mitsu paints used to back in the day! I showed the fact rep and he said its bc i was using a polisher and couldnt do that, wtf!? Well see what happens. How many of u red evo ownerd had your car for more than a year? And what is the paint condition?

It sounds like your clear coat is gone. When you wax the car you're waxing the clear at no point should you have wax on your paint that's why you see the paint on the pads. That should be covered under warranty.
