Here's a thought. Let's say that you will more than likely end up paying for the labor (1500) or you can just pull the tranny send it to shep or team rip (1600-2200) and you know the work will be of higher quality than the hack jobs at mitsu could do.

If the car is bone stock and you honestly havnt been abusing it, then you have nothing to worry about. 2k miles in 5th gear is a defect.

However, the guy sounds like an ***, so I would either go to another dealer (even if it is 200 miles away) or send the tranny to TRE. If you want to keep the warranty, call the next closest dealer and talk about it with the service manager. Hopefully he/she is more reasonable. And forget about going to court and all taht bs....its gonna cost you infitite money and time...and you wont win.

And a 2.5 hour drive to get your car working properly and to save 1500 bucks is worth it...at least to me.

I wouldn't let them work on it.. if you're going to have to fight just to get warrenty work done.. what makes you think they will do a good job? I would contact the district rep and let them know your experience reguardless of what you do (not that they care).

Also you might post up the name/location of the dealership to let others know.

That service manager sounds like a total *** hat.

I would call corporate and file a complaint and/or take your car to another dealer if you don't want to pay for the work. Otherwise go with what these guys are saying and get the tranny rebuilt by TRE.

Good ole - the "best backed cars in the world".

Everyone that has had the dealer repair problem has had much worse problems afterward and some have had their warranty cancled for "abuse" even though they were abused by the dealer. Go to TRE or other reputable transmission repair shop that knows the inside of these trannys.

DO NOT agree to let them work on it unless you have already determined whether it will be covered under warranty or not. That is a great way to lose a lot of money. Make sure that is clear before anybody touches anything.

I finally see the warranty at face value.... There isnt one. When I bought the car I had every intention on keeping the car stock, in case of problems. Now that this happened im saying to hell with it and im going to have some fun!
