what is this noise?

ok im going out on a limb here and seeing if anyone can get this. Drove my car tonight and noticed a high pitch screetching sound but it was very faint. Almost sounds like a siren thats very far away. Its also very inconsistent and comes and goes as im driving.

Valvetrain? Brakes? WORSE?!

i have the same thing, i think. It's almost like metal rubbing together or brakes squealing, but it only happens once in a while, and it happens while im cruising, accelerating, or slowing down. It sounds like it's coming from the right, front side of the car.

Dude! I have the same exact thing. Mine starts out when i start up the car, but it never seems to go away! Sorry to hijack but what are the symptoms of a blown or worn out Transfer Case?

i hear that too.

i can't only guess. i don't think it's the brakes.

it maybe your oil cooler on the right side of the bumper.

i always thought it was the door or the seatbelt making that noise somehow... but i don't think it is.
