Those with cams...HELP
Those with cams...HELP
Would the 264/272 set up be my best bet for better low end with minimal lag and better high end power?
I auto-x but prefer setting car up for open track road race events.
Can a Re-flash correct the idle issues if any. I don't have or want a stand alone system to make it work.
Thanks for help. OH, and GSC seems to have a great deal including ARP studs!
And, I seem to miss all the threads with audio clips on cams....the search gets me to the posts, but the thread is gone. Anyone have a wave clip? Thanks.

I wouldn't imagine you would have any stalling issues w/ 264/272's. I have been in a car w/ 272/264's and the idle will dip down when the A/C is on and you are on the brakes hard. Other than that, she idles great. You may want to adjust the idle up a little though to help compensate for the cams.
GSC is the way to go for cams though. All the guys that have heard the cams love the sound of them (Buschur TBE w/ test pipe).

Check out this great thread by TedB: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=100413
He did exactly what you are looking for. Personally I've been running HKS 272/272 cams with cam gears set to -4/-1, great top-end performance and no idling issues whatsoever. However, if you want more low-end torque, you'll probably want to set them to something like -2/-2 or -3/-3 (read Ted's thread and you'll see).
On a sidenote - I'm going to the more aggressive HKS 280 cams as part of my turbo upgrade, and am selling my 272's.

autocross 1-3 you will be killing them! my car was street tuned by AMS with the same combo and the car is a fckin beast on both low and top end! after you hit 2nd you will need to hold on tight to that shifter because you will be looking for 3rd and by the time you hit it you will need to go back to 2nd! be prepared to slide
my take is that the care atleast should have came with 264s! be sure to get a tbe and test pipe!
you will never baby that thing again!
by the way idle is great!
do not run 91 oct! it sucks with cams! 92 or higher gives you better idle and power! car is also smoother!
my $.02

If you are looking at your throttle body (from the drivers side wheel), there is a set screw to the right of the TB. It is recessed. You will need a short screw driver to turn it (phillips) and it takes several turns to get the car to respond. My car is idling at 950 rpm's.
