It makes it perform hell a better in a modded form.

You should check out the topgears evo 8 stock vs sti stock.

 

makes me want to get an evo even more. But i'll still wait until the right one comes along. Isnt this the same show where they tested that one go-kart thing with a supercharged civic type r engine?

 

There you go with this old video again on UK cars we don't have - a FQ320 vs a 04 WR1 (more show than performance). Right off the bat it's a 20hp+ difference. Even the USDM STis would've done better than WR1, especially the 05 for handling.

If you want some better comparison - try same generation RS/MR vs Spec C, GS vs STi, FQ320/400 vs Type25/S203 or even USDM EVOs vs STi.

Personally I recall seeing more STIs coming out on top than EVOs in Best Motoring videos.

 

For everyone claiming that its only because its an FQ320: remember, the regular Evo 8 beat the WR1 as well.

yes the brits definitely get better versions of the evo...scc had a few evo v. sti matchups w/ the sti coming out on top - nice vid tho

That's a good (old) video. My favorite is the one where they test the new vette. After it runs its lap, they say "Wow, that's almost as fast as an Evo!"
