antilag system?

I am very curious. I heard that antilag systems placed into Evo 8's melt your exhaust in like 500 miles. Weren't there antilag systems in Evo 3's or 4's? I also wanna know if there are any Evo 3-6 here in California for sale. Thanx.

hahahaha where'd you get the impression that antilag systems were in Evo 3's/4's? D'you watch too much Initial D with The Emperor's antilag system on his Evo??? Usually I don't tell people this, but man this topic has been covered already. Search for it on this forum.

I am sure they were used in 3-4's if they were track/rally cars.

Anti-lag is NOT for a street driven car.

anti lag can be installed on almost any turbo car. It will destroy your turbo and exhaust manifold in short order, you can't run a regular aftermarket cat with it (you need to use a special race cat designed for rally, very expensive). I would not recommend running anti-lag on a street car. There are no "legal" street registered evo's in the US prior to the VIII. There are several that are titled, but none that are 100% legal.

No if you're looking for a track only car, and have the cash to throw at replacing turbos and manifolds, and don't need to run a cat anti-lag is good fun.

Only the ones you see on Intial D.

Real antilag systems effectively destroys your turbo so you can go a little bit faster.

There are anti-lag systems that use exhaust gas recirculation, but I've found precious little about them, maybe they're just on works cars. Supposedly, they are much kinder to the turbo and exhaust manifold.

The Evo 4-6 had some ALS hardware but it was non functional. IT was there because those generations were homologated under Group A for WRC competition which is a lot more strict about production-race car relationships than the current WRC class homologation.

so if it's not anti-lag ... what is the piping going into the top of the exhaust manifold on this FQ and every other JDM/Euro evo?

Hmmm. Ever wonder what those big knobs were sticking out of your exhaust mani were for? Ever wonder why evo 7's (and JDM 8's) for that matter have piping coming out of them? Well, The are called anti-lag bungs and I can only imagine that the plumbing coming out of them is for ALS. LOL. Wether it's funtional or not is the question.

can't tell from the picture. most ALS (anti-lag systems) use computer control and a throttle kicker to provide oxygen and retard ingnition timing to effectively turn the exhaust manifold into the combustion chamber. the bungs you are referring to are als buns, but I can't see what is attached to them. Either way you still don't want to run an ALS on a road car.

Anti lag and launch control are also listed as options for the MR FQ-400.
